Christmas ProjectionDuring my studies at MCAST Art & Design part of the course was collaborated with Valletta 18 to create an architectural projection mapping on the Grand Master’s Palace. Here are all of my works that were featured in Projection.

MCAST Projection The annual end of year exhibition at MCAST Art & Design 2014 - Paper to Screen & Everything in Between. My work contributed to the projection mapping using a combination of illustration, photo-manipulation & digital painting.

Seeker of sound As part of a group work project during my studies at MCAST Art & Design we were required to create an App. We decided to create a run & jump platform application. My role focused on backgrounds and mythical instruments that could be collected in the game.

CARD GAMEInspired from card games and fortune tellers - Each card is made with a unique style and story and depicts the various artistic styles.

tunnel muralAs part of a collaboration between Valletta 18 & Valletta Cruise Port, work was made for a tunnel to give a cheerful welcome to all tourists who will be boarding on & off of cruise ships. The art was inspired by aspects of the Maltese Islands & Pop art.

flash back!Another assignment at MCAST Art & Design was to create an animation which focused on sound effects. The 90’s and aspects from our childhood served as inspiration for the animation.

Various objects in the animation were parodies of brand & products which have been around for years & were drawn in a simple yet vibrant style.

sky is the limitAs a project for my Dissertation I focused on illegal hunting in Malta & on endangered species. The artwork in my thesis focused on various illustrated posters and info-graphics as well as a small installation with origami birds that could be approached and interacted with. The following pages consist of said art as well of photographs of the installation.

MALTA

Maltese Names: Russet (Heron and Bitterns) Agrett(Egret)Sightings: Rare but more common in Spring and SummerBreeds in Malta? No

These 3 birds are all migratory species and tend to visit Malta in the months of March and April as well in August and September. They rest in coastal areas or anywhere with a large amount of water such as the Nature Reserves.

There are 64 species of these birds worldwide

Bitterns: The bittern are smaller in size and have shorter necks and legs.

Overall, they have a stockier build.

Egrets and Herons: Both these groups have long slim legs and long necks. Overall they look more graceful.

Egrets tend to be named differently because they are mainly white or have decorative plumes. Although Egrets have the same build as Herons, they tend to be smaller.

Being the National Bird of Malta, The Blue Rock Thrush is a protected species, meaning it is illegal to hunt no matter what season.

Flash Back:

Before Malta had the Euro currency we had Maltese Pounds and each coin featured wildlife native to our islands.The Blue Rock Thrush was proudly featured on the LM 1 Coin eating a worm.

The Blue Rock Thrush was almost wiped out from the Islands and so in order to protect it from extinction, legislators made the Blue Rock Thrush the national bird of Malta, and it became illegal to hunt the bird

or disturb its nest.

The male’s body is a rich blue with black wings and tail while the female is not colourful as the male, as it is dark brown in colour with a cream coloured chest.

The Greater Flamingo is a migratory bird. This means they regularly journey to other countries according to the seasons.

The Greater Flamingo comes from all over Europe such as: Spain, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy and the Camargue region of France.

They usually visit Malta in September and roost near the coast.

The Greater Flamingo is a protected species, meaning it is illegal to hunt no matter what season.

The Eurasian Spoonbill is a protected species, meaning it is illegal to hunt no matter what season.

committed a crime in the pastDuring Breeding Seasons the Eurasian Spoonbill has a crest on their head as well as a yellow patch on their chest.

Non-Breeding Spoonbills are a clean white without the yellow, and do not have the crest on their head.

and is still targeted.

Breeds in Malta: No

The Spoonbill gets it’s name for the very unique spoon-like shape beak it has which it uses to eat small fish and crustaceans.

The Spoonbill is a migratory bird that passes through Malta for warmer climate. They are seen mostly through the months of March till May and September till October and usually in Nature Reserves or by the coast.
