Project Description
The concept for this project began the semester before with the writing of a thesis. The goal was to create a project that would allow a community to become more localized in economy allowing decreased energy consumption from transportation and infrastructure construction.
The program is a building that would process biowaste on the first floor, raise chickens and fish on the second floor, and cultivate plants on the third floor. The programs work together in various ways to create things necessary for other parts of the program and sometimes the community.
The site is in the Milwaukee Junction of Detroit, MI that was formally a major manufacturing district in the early 1900s. The design is in an old automobile plant to utilize an existing building.

Project Description
This project was guided by the goal of defining and creating the contemporary loft building. This meant designing so that multiple functions could happen in the building and made temporary vs. permanent a major consideration while designing the building.
The site was in downtown Springfield, MO. The design opened up a creek that had been pushed underground, which is part of a city plan to create a linear park through parts of the downtown area. This informed site design a great deal.
The program of the building was to be commercial, residential, eyebeam, and nightclub. Eyebeam is a community of people who create digital art works. The ever-changing needs of the digital world enforced the need for the building to be as adaptable as possible.

Project Description
The Theater was viewed as an element that would become a landmark in the community. Its location across from the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City, MO inspired the playful iconography that was incorporated into the project.
The design fronted the street to the West of the site. The project was seen as one that had a strong community aspect to it, leading to the creation of courtyards under each building. The form of the buildings was a simple cube to match the playful architectural context of the area.
The programs were a dance performance and learning building, a theater performance and learning building, and a music performance and learning building. The theatre building was the focus of the project, leading it to be the most resolved design.

Concept
The concept for this project was to create a place where there could be community interaction, as well as a building that blended the indoor and outdoor spaces together. This involved using the spatial organization of space within a space. The idea the blending of indoor and outdoor space came from a historical precedent.
The site was a vacant lot near Commercial Street in Springfield Missouri. This area has been seeing a lot of renovations and has been attractive because of its historical qualities. This has attracted a lot of artist to the area, raising the need for a community artist gathering and working spot.
The program was set as a 600 square foot building. There is also a courtyard and sculpture garden so that people will have objects to gather around.
