This project starts from an analysis of how this rural space is currently used to realize if it is possible to develop public spaces mantaining arglicultural acactivities.

The bicycle tracks and equestrian paths are planned to link green spaces, farmhouses, the national parks included in the area and also residential and comcommercial areas. Some bicycle tracks link this area directly to the Expo site and Fiera.

Among the many structures devoted to agricultural activities preserved in this area, six farmhouses were chosen to become the knots of the network bebecause of their position, their specific activities or their historical relevance.

The development of this network also involves a system of public events and retail strategy called CASCINATTIVA.

CASCINATTIVAMilan, Italy

TThe aim of this project is to create a network of existing farm houses to promote and maintain their agricultural activity and to link this rural space to to the area of the Expo 2015.

The promenade starts from a residencial and commercial area which is close to the station and to many school buildings.

Two buildings incorporate a retirement home and student accomodations.

The structure of library straddles the promenade and faces a traditional farm house.

The exibition and conference centre is the main pubblic access to the promende and to the river national park.

The promenade ends in a large residential area at the margins of the city centre.

A permanent exhibition is housed in the highest floors of the taller building. This volume is dedicated for the study of the urban development of the city of of Milan.

TThe emptiness of this site, close to Porta Volta Bastion, is a testament to the ancient 15th century city walls and a reminder of the dedestruction due to the Second World War.

The part of the rails used for logistics and the stretch of the highway are going to be dismantle and become linear parks.

These parks are divided by two elements: a straddling building, containing the conference centre linked to the station, and a walkway.

All the other buildingsaare organized in the area enclosed by the conference centre, the highway, the walkway and a line originated by the urban structure.

The medieval moat, a green area bordering the city, stretches over the rails to reach the forum and the river.
