Eco-Feedback Floor Lamp

The goal of this project was to create a lamp that incorporates notions of eco-feedback. This lamp has a motion sensor that makes the user aware of the amount of energy being used. There is also a post-production blog that encourages sustainability by

showing how the lamp can be alternatively assembled and do-it-yourself tips on how to customize it.

Skills Applied: Sustainable design, wood construction, coding for the motion sensor, concrete casting

Materials: Local hardwood, rope, metal hook, concrete, wire basket, led light, motion sensor, power adapter,

aluminum heat shield Size: 6’x2’

Date of completion: December 2014

Aware and WarmHandmuff / Drink Cozy

This group project’s aim was to raise money for the homeless, while also raising public awareness of

homelessness. As a team we came up with the idea for the convertible Hand-Muff/Drink cozy. The design was inspired by the way in which people hold their mugs when it is cold outside. I was responsible for the pattern design as well as the sewing of the final

products. As a team we came up with the branding for our product.

Skills Applied: Sewing, pattern making, and object design.

Materials: Organic cotton, fleece, silk screening paint, fabric paint, and buttons.

Size: 13”x4”Date of completion: March 2014

Devolution Performance Piece

The goal of this project was to incorporate your own body into the art piece. I chose to make molds of my legs, which I then attached to my arms for the perfor-mance. I walked around outside on all fours challeng-ing people to think about humans as animals and the

way in which humanity has evolved.Skills Applied: Mould making and art performance.

Materials: Plaster of Paris, silicon, silicon dyes, burlap and bee’s wax.

Size: Human scaleDate of completion: October 2013

Mellow Yellow Floor Pillow

In this group project each member created their own pillow using the same materials and colors. The pillows can be arranged in different ways to create multiple seating arrangements. Mellow Yellow is a

sustainable design because the final product can be biodegraded when no longer wanted; this is due to

the fact that organic fabrics were used as well as nat-ural dying with turmeric.

Skills: Sewing, pattern making, sustainable object de-sign and natural fabric dying.

Materials: Organic cotton and thread, turmeric.Size: 24”x24”x6”

Date of completion: November 2013

This lamp was designed to be used as a night-light. The top portion of the lamp swivels open to access the light bulb inside. The goal of this design was to

create a soft light that would be soothing before bed.Skills: Wood lath, metal bending, hole punch, spot

welding.Materials: Wood, Metal and Water based spray paint.

Size: 5”x10” Date of completion: February 2013

Star Light Table Lamp

Indulge Restaurant

In this project we were assigned a space that we had to trans-form for commercial use. I chose to create a restaurant, that had a lot of details and used a series or circles for the layout. The following are the floors plan, an elevation and a perspec-

tive view of the mezzanine. Materials: Autocad

Size: 11"x17"Date of completion: April 2008

Old meets New

This was a furniture design project in which we had to chose an existing style of furniture and make into something new. I found inspiration from a Queen Anne chair for the backrest and legs of the chair. The new came from using molded car-

bon-fiber for the seat and metal as building material.Materials: Autocad
