This shelter is modular and airy, and is something that you can walk through and experience. The added steps allow for maximum amounts of seating while taking up as little space as possible. Thick vines si-multaneously bring a bit of nature back into the city and provide shelter.

Sketch Models of Light in Ramp
Sketch of Sanctuary Spaces
For my urban sanctuary, I wanted to emphasize the journey to the sanctuary itself through the use of a ramp system. Sections were cut out around the exterior of the ramp and allow different things to occur: the skinniest are there to solely allow light in while the biggest ones frame a certain part of your surroundings that I want you to pause and look at.

This structure was inspired by bal-let’s light, airy movements, as well as the pointe shoes that are essential to the dance. The thin columns are structural while obstructing as little of the southern daylight as possible.
