Monora: A Multicultural Gallery (2010)Collection of Works

Yr 12 Visual Arts Body of Work

The body of work is based upon the idea that Sydney needs a new art gallery that exhibits multicultural art. The artwork is a proposition for this new gallery, consisting of three A1 posters, seven A3 prints and a chromed sculpture. The form of the building is in the shape of a stylized peacock, inspired by sketches from my grandfather’s journal and the strongsymbolism behind the peacock in Asia.symbolism behind the peacock in Asia.

The proposed location of the gallery is on the water edge of Farm Cove in Sydney Harbour. This is due to its centralised location in the city and also the equidistant distance from the NSW Art Gallery and the Museum of

Contemporary Art.
