CT Recovery Initiative
• Agency Receiving Stimulus Funds
• A web page will need to be created.−minimum content to be included will
be identified by Governor’s Office−We will try to provide a standard
template based on their recommendations
−We will provide a CT Recovery graphic for the home page to link to page

Websites & Working with Vendors
• If an Agency is using the DAS Contract and a website is in the scope of work they must use the DOIT contract for any technical website development
• The contract can also be used by Agencies that need assistance maintaining their website (Costs range between $50-$200/hour)
Non-Portal Content Inventory
• There are hundreds of pieces of dynamic content and Access Databases hosted on IIS servers
• There are security concerns with Access databases on the web
• We are reviewing all non-Portal sites for dynamic content− ASP, ASPX− Access Databases− Web Forms
Non-Portal Content Inventory
• The Inventory form is located here:−http://www.dir.ct.gov/doit/

• We would like to have the Inventory completed by April 17, 2009
• As a second step, we may use this inventory as a Housekeeping tool−Remove excess or duplicate files from
the IIS servers.
WebTrends
• WebTrends still works
• Profiles are analyzing−71 Sites Completed−22 Sites Left in Queue−70 Portal Sites Not Requested
• We are still looking into ways to increase the amount of profiles we can analyze
Streaming Video Service• No charge for the first year
−After the first year, it will be evaluated and may become a billable service
− If demand is not high enough for this Service, the Service may be reduced or cancelled altogether
• Both space and bandwidth are limited−50 GB of storage; 1000 GB of bandwidth
traffic per month− Exceeding either may cause a re-
evaluation of cost before 1 year
Streaming Video Service• Service launched in September 2008
−6 months ago−6 months to go (08/09)
• Currently, only three (3) agencies are using the service−About 4% of space−About 6.8% of bandwidth per month

• Contract expires in April 2009
• We still have credits left−Use them or lose them−1 credit = 1 photo
• Agencies may now request as many as ten (10) extra images (even if they are not ready to use them at this time)

− No Vector Images− No Video− No Animation
• PMG will download the images• Use online form to request up to 10 extra images
− URL− Make sure to include Reference number
• NOTE: Based on demand, all 10 requests may not be accommodated
• Once credits run out, no further requests will be honored

• With current spending freeze the earliest we could renew is July 2009
• If/When we are able to renew this service, it will be for fewer credits

• Images from IStockPhoto.com are for web use only− They cannot be used for printed
materials of any sort
• Images cannot be stored on a shared drive
• Follow all copyright rules and laws
Guidelines for Rotating Images
• State of Connecticut Accessibility Policy− Users must be able to navigate a website
using only a keyboard− Alt Text must be used with every image
• What are Rotating Images?− Static pictures that change on pre-
determined time interval
• Creating Rotating Images− Flash− JavaScript− DSF Random Feature

• Flash− Links on transition should also be available
elsewhere on page− Alternate means to get the information other
than the flash presentation itself
• JavaScript− Generic Alt Text to describe the overall
objective of the images− Hyperlink on each image− Separate HTML page with Links

• Service Level Changes− Thank you all for using the online
forms and the Help Desk−Mario Mezzio, Craig Mollison, and
Angela Taetz (CT Project Manager) are heavily involved in replacement project
−Scott Hoang and Richard Nucci are handling the majority of all Classic DSF requests and incidents
WCMS Replacement (DSF.net)
• Expectations−We will start upgrading sites to the
new system in August of 2009−We will convert all sites to the V3
template when they upgrade to the new system
− There will be a queue to upgrade to the new system. Online form available soon.
−We are looking into steps that agencies can perform now to prepare
