Founded in 2014, with offices in Padova, Italy, Pasadena, CA, and Boston, MA, D-EYE Srl of-

fers a “digital eye” into the state of the body. The company designs and manufactures mobile

sensing and examination devices, along with companion applications, that enable mass health

screenings and data collection to improve access to vital health examination services for both

humans and animals. D-EYE also provides cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) systems

that enable telehealth applications, and aggregate and analyze health screening data to pro-

vide insight into individual conditions as well as trends across patient populations.

Developed in part with a grant from the Fondazione Cottino and with support from the Univer-

sity of Brescia, the revolutionary D-EYE Portable Retinal Imaging System was created by Si14

SpA, a visionary original design and development laboratory for novel technology products that

enhance the way we live, work and play.

D-EYE Vet is easy to learn and simple to use. Download the smartphone app, affix the mounting

bumper and fundus lens, set up patient/exam file, focus the phone’s camera and begin record-

ing. It’s that easy, that simple.

The portable D-EYE VetTM retinal and eye examiner attaches to a smartphone to record high-

resolution images and video of the interior of the eye for ophthalmic and clinical assessment.

This innovative smartphone lens system allows regular screenings of the eye, providing spe-

cific information about noticeable eye diseases. D-EYE Vet can be used to screen dogs, cats,

rabbits and other pets and small animals, as well as horses, falcons or other species.

Completely portable, lightweight and noiseless, the D-EYE Vet is easy to use with animals of

nearly all sizes and in all settings.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The D-EYE Vet is an external lens that uses

the LED light source and camera from a smart-

phone device (currently Apple iPhone 5, 5S and

6; and Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5) to illuminate

the interior of the eye during an ophthalmic ex-

amination. A proprietary application installed in

the smartphone allows the examiner to see the

fundus of the eye from a non-invasive distance,

record and post-process the recorded frames.

The D-EYE Vet software contains set-up and op-

erational instructions, and a chart for patient file

management. Available later in 2015, the D-EYE

ImageVaultTM, a subscription-based, secure, cloud

platform service, will enable image/video storage

and sharing, allowing images to be sent via email

to colleagues and other trained specialists for

consultation or further diagnosis.
