Port History In 1531 Braz Cubas, member of the
Portuguese expedition, arrived in the city of
Santos;
He had the idea to build a port in that area
because were safe;
The coffee culture encouraged people to
invest in the port because they will be able to
export coffee quickly;

In 1980 CODESP (Companhia Docas do
Estado de Sao Paulo) began to administrate

Case studies of success stories Sustainable transportation: Port of
Santos with Green logistics
Since 2011, aiming to reduce the CO2
emission, the Port of Santos changed the
fuel of the light vehicles, that before was
gasoline, to ethanol. According to
Embrapa (Brazilian Company of
Agricutural research), when changes the
fuel e emission of CO2 decreases 73%.
Case studies of success stories Cataloging fauna and flora of the port area:
This cataloging is important to keep the
biodiversity around the port. They also do an
environmental monitoring in ecologically
sensitive areas of the Port, as the mangroves,
where there are species such as the red ibises
and herons; and registers the plant species of
port areas.
