Now serving the community from the neighborhood at Cap Sante Marina in downtown Anacortes are Michael and Lori Hayes, own-ers of “Vagabond Trailer Food.” Menu items at the mobile eatery include fried chicken, biscuits and sweet tea. The colorful diner, a new addition among marina-centered businesses, just moved to an expanded spring schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check out the “Pig Pen” sandwich and “Uncle Chicken’s Fried Ribs.” See details on Facebook: “VagabondAtown.”

show began years ago almost on a whim, and has since become the best in-water boat show in the Northwest.” Fowler, who has been at the marina helm for almost 29 years, emphasizes that boat show guests are only minutes away from some of the community’s finest features. “With the money they saved from free admission and park-ing,” he quipped, “boat show guests can walk a few blocks to enjoy great places to shop, eat and drink.” This year’s show also coincides with the Anacortes Cham-ber of Commerce Wine Festival on Saturday, April 9, just a few blocks north at the Port of Anacortes Transit Shed Event Center. If you were to dine at Anthony’s Restaurant at Cap Sante Marina, a window seat would offer a sprawling vista of boats, dominating a 60-slip C Dock and slips along the “face” of the waterfront. Burgess, who is a veteran of 12 Anacortes Boat Shows, points out that a supplemental element of the event is a convenient gath-ering of vendors who will populate two tented barges. “Our vendors offer a wide range of goods and services, from bankers and insurance reps to marine service experts,” he said. “The Anacortes marine trades community represents the cream of the crop. We have skilled people here who can handle any pos-

sible job associated with a boat.” Burgess said the boat show boasts five-star features and a relaxed, stress-free environment. “We are very accommodating,” he said. “We will have boats spread across the breadth of this beautiful marina. Most are open to go aboard and take a look around.” “This show is wonderful for the person who wants to get out and find what is available without pressure,” he concluded. “And if you already know what you want, there’s a good chance you’ll find it here.”
