From Father O’Brien
I am very pleased to announce that parishioner Larry Messina
has been accepted into the Diaconte Program of the Diocese of
Syracuse. After an extensive application process Larry has been informed
that he has been accepted into the preparation program to become a
Deacon in the Catholic Church. The length of the program is five years,
during which Larry will be doing course work in theology and pastoral
ministry. During the years of preparation Larry will continue to be
involved in ministry at Pope John XXIII. It is expected that he will
minister as a Deacon at Pope John XXIII following ordination. Please
join me in prayer for Larry during these years of preparation that he will
be guided by the Holy Spirit and upon completion come to serve the
people of Pope John XXIII.
I am also pleased to report that the improvement work at the
rectory has been completed. The project to re-roof and re-side the rectory
as well as correct some electrical deficiencies has gone extremely well
thanks to Tom Collins, who oversaw the project and Matteo Tamilia and
Frank Stancato who facilitated the work. They are to be commended for
their generosity and expertize in returning the rectory to excellent
condition for the future.
