Faithful Navigator’s Message:

As our Navigator is away for a few months avoiding the Canadian winter, I

will write a brief note on his behalf.

January has proven to be quite a busy month, with a number of events for the

colour guard (Basketball Free Throw, Special Olympics), the Big Band

Concert, and a Fourth Degree Exemplification.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest Sir Knights, SK

Rocco DeVito, and SK Paul La Fontaine. It was wonderful to see them and

their families at the exemplification, along with their sponsors. (See the

picture later in this newsletter from the event).

It is always worth mentioning the ongoing need for Honour Guard members, more events are slated for

February beginning on Saturday February 4th for the district Basketball Free Throw competition. We would

benefit from new members joining the colour corps and certainly would appreciate anyone coming out to try

it. We have spare regalia available so all you would be committing initially is a little time. It is a very

rewarding feeling to be recognized for demonstrating the Knights’ commitment to church and country!

Our meeting will be held this Thursday, February 2nd at the hall: we will begin with a sword drill at 7:00 pm,

holy mass at 7:30 pm, followed by our business meeting. Please come out and enjoy the evening with your

brother Sir Knights.

Finally, it won’t be long before we are into our election season for the next Fraternal year. PLEASE consider

a position on the assembly executive. If you would like to know more details of any of the positions, feel free

to call myself, or any of our past faithful navigators (SK Vic Lefebvre, SK Jere Hartnett, SK Jack Costigan,

SK Frank Gallant). We would be more than happy to explain the positions, and provide assistance should you

decide to take on a role.

On Jan. 29th at our Exemplification in Stoney Creek we

had 2 new members join our ranks. Please join with me

in welcoming Sir Knight Paul LaFontaine and Sir

Knight Rocco DeVito into our Assembly. (See picture

elsewhere in this newsletter.)

We are having a busy start to the calendar year with

our Basketball Free Throws and our Special Olympic

events. There is always much appreciation expressed

from the audiences at these events for the knights. This

is recognition of the work by all knights not just the 4th

degree. We are simply the visible arm. We do however

need to strengthen this visible arm; our honour/colour

guard numbers are few and we have to rely mainly on

the same people at each event. I ask for each of you to

reach out to our brother knights in our councils inviting

them to join us to strengthen our ranks. I also ask that

all PJPII assembly members who are not members of

the colour guard to please consider stepping forward

and joining their ranks so that they can fully participate

in this mission of the 4th degree.

As I mentioned in a previous newsletter and at our last

general meeting 2017 is the 150th anniversary of

Canada and that our Vice Supreme Master has

challenged us to come up with ideas for an appropriate

“Patriotic” project(s) or activity which helps mark this

special milestone. I would like for us all to think of an

idea that meets this challenge (big or small all ideas are

welcomed). If you send your ideas to my attention I

will collect them and summarize them for our

assembly’s consideration. I have heard of 1 or 2 ideas

already and they sound interesting. Ask “What you can

do for your country” in this special anniversary year.
