INTRODUCTION The poly bags are manufactured from polyethylene thus

making them biodegradable when exposed to direct oxygenand UV light. For this reason, stabilizing chemicals may beadded during the manufacturing process to prevent them

from breakage. Though this renders your imported polybags stable to use for industrial purposes, it may affecthow the polyethylene content could be broken down fordisposal later on. We might also be hesitant to use importedpoly bags for food if they have stabilizing chemicals addedto them to prevent degradation

OF POLYBAGS Every once in a while the government here passes

out an order banning shop keepers from providingplastic bags to customers for carrying theirpurchases, with little lasting effect. Plastic bagsare very popular with both retailers as well asconsumers because they are cheap, strong,lightweight, functional, as well as a hygienic meansof carrying food as well as other goods. Eventhough they are one of the modern conveniences

that we seem to be unable to do without, they areresponsible for causing pollution, killing wildlife,and using up the precious resources of the earth.

plastic pollution These are all-important factors that have a profound affect on our

environment and the creatures we share our planet with.
