    IMPACT OF POLITICS IN MALAYSIAN

    EDUCATION SYSTEM

    Politics play a dominant role.

    Needs and interests of Malaysian politicians arecatered first as against students and nation as a wholeeg teaching of maths and science in English. Fear of

    Bahasa losing ground to English. Loss of a generation of competent students in English

    resulting in overtaking by other Asean countries.

    Dismal performance of the government in 2008

    election is main reason why government gives way topolitical pressure. Tough decision making with soundexplanation is the only way out for Malaysia to advanceregionally and worldwide.

    Primary schools less influence.

    Secondary schools and varsities political battleground for government and opposition forces.

    Too many policy changes in education education

    system becomes fragmented and muddled impactsprogress towards mission.

    Politics and education do not and should not mix if wewant a first class knowledge based productive

    workforce. Whole purpose of education create pool of educated

    workforce, critical thinkers who can make wisedecisions in life that benefits society and nation.
