Functions and powersAccording to Article 1 of the Police Act of 6 April 1990, police in Poland is an armed organization, employees of which wear uniforms, serve of society to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

The main responsibilities of the police are:

** Protection of life, health and property of citizens ** Maintaining law and order, including support order in public places and transport, as well as to ensure the safety of traffic on public roads and waterways

*** Initiation and organization of actions aimed at the prevention of crimes and offenses, as well as any situation and behavior of the citizens, who lead to crime

*** Investigation of crimes and offenses and the prosecution of perpetrators

*** Oversight of municipal protection and specialized armed security services

The Polish National Police consists of criminal, patrol and supportive services. Court police is also the part of the Polish National Police.

Headquarters of the National Police is an organization that brings to life the purposes listed in the Police Act. It consists of 18 organizational units that plan, organize, coordinate, supervise and monitor the activities of the Polish police.

Police chiefs of individual provinces and cities subordinate to the Supreme Commander of the police.

Most police forces in Poland are people up to 40 years. The main part of police officers has a secondary education (77%), 20% of police officers has a higher education and only 3% of the personnel have vocational education. Over 10% of police officers are women.

Police work in very difficult and dangerous, because every day the police officers are risking their lives to save the

lives of civilians.

But I think that it is a job for real men.
