The LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science has been awarded two Fellowships on the Subjects “ Human Rights Violation of Rape Victims in Delhi city” and ” Sexual abuse of children: A Sociological Study in Delhi Metropolis”. The Manonmaniam Sundarnar University ,Tamil Nadu will work on the subject of “Victims of Terrorism : An analysis of Bombay Bomb Blast in the post Babri - Masjid Demolition Period. Whereas, The University of Lucknow has been awarded the fellowship on “Impact Analysis of Prison Reforms”. The Department of Legal of Studies, University of Madras has proposed the study on “CBI cases before Courts - An Analysis”. While the Department of Politicial Science BPR&D, in collaboration with the Govt. Of Central, District and Sub Prisons. The plan Punjab, took an initiative to prepare model site aims at providing all basic minimum facilities to plans of different kind of prisons while maintaining the prisoners for maintaining their human the uniformity in the architectural designs of dignity. BPR&D had provided all the inputs for the preparation of the plan to the Chandigarh College of Architect & Planning, Chandigarh. The site plan was presented before the th Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab on 26 September, 2007. DG, BPR&D , Dr. Kiran Bedi and Asstt. Director, BPR&D, Dr. B.V. Path Breaking Judgements on Prisons

In pursuance to the efforts of M/O Home Affairs' for Modernization of Prison Administration, BPR&D prepared a document on It has been released to all States and UTs. It contains the legal framework on prisons and various path breaking judgements of Hon'ble Supreme Court and various High Courts on the working of Prisons in addition to statistical profile of Prisons and Prisoners as on 01.01.2006 .

Reforms and Correctional On the occasion of 60th year of Indian

Administration: Independence 14 Correctional Service Medals for Meritorious Services, 2 medals for President's

BPR&D has prepared a Draft National Correctional Service Medals for Distinguished Policy on Prison Reforms and submitted it to the Service and 3 Correctional Service Medals for MHA . The draft was prepared by a committee Gallantry were awarded by the Govt. of India to under the charimanship of DG, BPR&D the prison personnel.

BPR&D, DG, Kiran Bedi Gets Baba Farid Award

DG, BPR&D Ms. Kiran Bedi got the prestigious Baba Farid award for honesty this year at Faridkot, Punjab, on 23rd August, 2007. The award conferred on her in a religious congregation held at Gurudwara Godari Sahib here. The Award included cash of Rs. One lakh, a citation and a shawl.

BPR&D has carried out a field trial of modified Tear Gas Gun at BSF, Tekenpur on August, 6th 2007 under the

chairmanship of Deputy Director, Development,BPR&D, Shri Sanjay Baniwal. Other Board of member were drawn from CPFs ,Delhi and MP Police Forces. The team assessed the following modifications in the Gun and found that lot of substantial improvement have been made in its mechanism, range and recoil system. The report had been submitted to the DG, BSF.

A Workshop on Trends in was held on 17-9-2007 in BPR&D Conference hall. Representatives of CPMFs, State police and BPRD officers attended and interacted lively with company representatives.

The workshop was conducted by the experts in electronics and communication from M/S Sony company and Delhi Police. The Workshop aimed at finding Software solutions to surveillance problems faced by various Police forces

in their sphere of work.

BPR&D Organized and carried out following tests/trials on Technology for Police Forces:

Trial evaluations of GT – 200, an explosive detector was carried out on 25.9.2007 at .

Officers of different Police Forces attending the video surveillance were taken to visit Delhi Traffic Police Lines (Teen Murti Traffic) on 18.9.2007 by BPR&D for first hand exposure to Video Monitoring of Traffic through IP based Cameras used by Delhi Police.

Evaluation of tender samples and Field trials of Hand Held SEARCH LIGHTS was carried out by “Technical Evaluation Committee” on 7.9.2007 at BSF firing range, Bhodsi .It was headed by BSF with other officers drawn from CPFs.

A presentation of CyberCheck by CDEC, Thiruvananthpuram was given at BPR&D conference hall on 18.9.2007.

BPR&D ORGANIZED HINDI PAKHWADA BPR&D organized Hindi Pakhwada (a Fortnight) from September, 1st 2007 to September, 15th 2007. During the fortnight various Hindi competitions like essay writings,noting & drafting, discussions etc. were held among the officers and staff of the Bureau. All the officers and other staff members participated in these competitions with much fervor. The prizes of Rs. 1500, 1250 and 1000 were awarded to the candidates who stood first, second and third respectively. Director (R&D) Shri. R.C.Arora presided over the closing ceremony function.
