Transcript of Polaris - How to search library catalog & place a hold
From the BCPL home page (www.bcpl.info), click in the SEARCH FOR box and then type an author’s name, a title or a keyword in that box. Then click the GO button.
You will get a list of titles. Once you find a title you like, click on the AVAILABILITY button to see if your branch has it.
When you click AVAILABILITY then a window pops up. Scroll through that window to see if your branch has it. If you do not see it at your branch, then you can place a request for it by clicking the “close window” button (the black circle with an X in it in the upper , right corner.
Then click the PLACE REQUEST button, on the right, below the AVAILABILITY button.
You will then be prompted to log into your library account using your library card number (also known as your barcode number) and your password (with is the last four digits of your phone number unless you have changed it). Then click the LOGIN button.
You will see a screen with the title you are requesting, your name and a menu of library locations labeled “Pickup Library”. Click the arrow and select a library from the pop up menu. Then click the SUBMIT REQUEST button.
You should then see a confirmation screen which says, “Your request has been placed.” You will get notified (by email or phone) when a copy is ready for you to pick up.
