FeaturesAPPLICATION - Polar-Flo unit coolers are ideallysuited for a wide range of large coolers, freezersand blast freezers. The P*U and P*L models aredesigned for use below +25°F room temperature.The P*M and PAH models are designed for coolersin the medium and high temperature ranges.
SIZES - There are 61 sizes available, ranging incapacity from 11,800 to 273,000 BTUH @ 10°TD,and ranging in air flow from 2,720 to 29,900 CFM.
HOUSING - Rust-free, heavy gauge texturedAluminum; lightweight and durable. Air and electricdefrost models have hinged drain pans to allow forconvenient servicing and maintenance (Hot Gasdrain pans are not hinged).
LIFTING LEGS - 2 fan models and larger areshipped upright with removable lifting legs, allowingthe unit to be installed quickly, and easily with aforklift. Slotted hangers are provided for fastinstallation.
COIL - Seamless copper tubes are mechanicallyexpanded into heavy gauge corrugated Aluminumfins to assure maximum heat transfer. Die formedfin collars are provided for accurate fin spacing.Hangers are fastened directly to the tube sheets ofthe coil to provide high structural strength. All unitsare dehydrated, sealed and shipped with a nitrogenholding charge.
REFRIGERANTS - For use with direct expansion,R-22, R-404A, R-502 and R-507. Specify refrigerantwhen ordering. A separate compartment is providedfor all refrigeration connections, allowing ampleroom for internal mounting of expansion valve(s).Polar-Flo can also be used for chilled water or glycolsolutions, contact factory for selection.
FANS - Powerful, heavy-duty Aluminum fans areindividually balanced to provide vibration-freeoperation. Wire fan guards are epoxy coated forcorrosion resistance. Optional air straighteners areavailable for increased air throw.
MOTORS - All standard motors are high efficiencyPSC, ball bearing type, life lubricated and thermallyprotected. P*U and P*L models use 3/4 HP, 1075RPM or 3/4 HP, 1625 RPM motors. P*M and PAHmodels use 1/3 HP or 3/4 HP, 1075 RPM motors.Electronically Commutated motors are now availablefor Polar-Flo units.
ELECTRICAL - Available in 115/1, 208/230/1,208/230/3, 460/1 and 460/3 (see page 10). Ultra-Temps can also be operated on 220/1/50, 220/3/50,380/1/50, and 380/3/50 power (contact factory fordetails). All components are factory wired toconvenient screw-type terminal blocks. A largecompartment is supplied for all electrical componentsand is easily accessible by removing the end panel.
AIR DEFROST - Available on PAM and PAH seriesonly for use in coolers at +35°F and above.Complete Air Defrost systems are available fromWITT.
ELECTRIC DEFROST - Available on all but the PAHmodels. Placement of the heaters within therefrigeration coil allow for a more efficient and rapiddefrost cycle. This arrangement enables heat to beconducted from the center of the core out, for a moreeven defrost pattern. All heaters are factory wired toscrew-type terminal blocks, allowing for a quick fieldchange over from 1 to 3 phase or 230V to 460V andvice versa with the use of jumpers. An adjustable,remote bulb defrost termination and fan delay(DTFD) is mounted and wired. Drain pans areheated for fast, reliable drainage. Timer andcontactors are available as options, see page 11.Complete Electric Defrost systems are available fromWITT.
HOT GAS RE-EVAP DEFROST - Available on all butthe PAH models. Includes an adjustable defrosttermination and fan delay (DTFD), factory installed.A hot gas drain circuit is supplied, thus eliminatingthe need for electric heat and additional wiring. AHeat Exchanger/Re-Evaporator is supplied withevery unit. Refer to the current Technical Bulletin HGfor piping. Complete Hot Gas Re-Evap systems areavailable from WITT, contact factory.
HOT GAS REVERSE CYCLE DEFROST - Availableon all but the PAH models. Includes an adjustabledefrost termination and fan delay. (DTFD) factoryinstalled. A hot gas drain pan circuit is supplied, thuseliminating the need for electric heat and additionalwiring. Refer to the current Technical Bulletin HGFor piping. This unit is also used for AlternatingEvaporator Systems.

FeaturesAPPLICATION - Polar-Flo unit coolers are ideallysuited for a wide range of large coolers, freezersand blast freezers. The P*U and P*L models aredesigned for use below +25°F room temperature.The P*M and PAH models are designed for coolersin the medium and high temperature ranges.
SIZES - There are 61 sizes available, ranging incapacity from 11,800 to 273,000 BTUH @ 10°TD,and ranging in air flow from 2,720 to 29,900 CFM.
HOUSING - Rust-free, heavy gauge texturedAluminum; lightweight and durable. Air and electricdefrost models have hinged drain pans to allow forconvenient servicing and maintenance (Hot Gasdrain pans are not hinged).
LIFTING LEGS - 2 fan models and larger areshipped upright with removable lifting legs, allowingthe unit to be installed quickly, and easily with aforklift. Slotted hangers are provided for fastinstallation.
COIL - Seamless copper tubes are mechanicallyexpanded into heavy gauge corrugated Aluminumfins to assure maximum heat transfer. Die formedfin collars are provided for accurate fin spacing.Hangers are fastened directly to the tube sheets ofthe coil to provide high structural strength. All unitsare dehydrated, sealed and shipped with a nitrogenholding charge.
REFRIGERANTS - For use with direct expansion,R-22, R-404A, R-502 and R-507. Specify refrigerantwhen ordering. A separate compartment is providedfor all refrigeration connections, allowing ampleroom for internal mounting of expansion valve(s).Polar-Flo can also be used for chilled water or glycolsolutions, contact factory for selection.
FANS - Powerful, heavy-duty Aluminum fans areindividually balanced to provide vibration-freeoperation. Wire fan guards are epoxy coated forcorrosion resistance. Optional air straighteners areavailable for increased air throw.
MOTORS - All standard motors are high efficiencyPSC, ball bearing type, life lubricated and thermallyprotected. P*U and P*L models use 3/4 HP, 1075RPM or 3/4 HP, 1625 RPM motors. P*M and PAHmodels use 1/3 HP or 3/4 HP, 1075 RPM motors.Electronically Commutated motors are now availablefor Polar-Flo units.
ELECTRICAL - Available in 115/1, 208/230/1,208/230/3, 460/1 and 460/3 (see page 10). Ultra-Temps can also be operated on 220/1/50, 220/3/50,380/1/50, and 380/3/50 power (contact factory fordetails). All components are factory wired toconvenient screw-type terminal blocks. A largecompartment is supplied for all electrical componentsand is easily accessible by removing the end panel.
AIR DEFROST - Available on PAM and PAH seriesonly for use in coolers at +35°F and above.Complete Air Defrost systems are available fromWITT.
ELECTRIC DEFROST - Available on all but the PAHmodels. Placement of the heaters within therefrigeration coil allow for a more efficient and rapiddefrost cycle. This arrangement enables heat to beconducted from the center of the core out, for a moreeven defrost pattern. All heaters are factory wired toscrew-type terminal blocks, allowing for a quick fieldchange over from 1 to 3 phase or 230V to 460V andvice versa with the use of jumpers. An adjustable,remote bulb defrost termination and fan delay(DTFD) is mounted and wired. Drain pans areheated for fast, reliable drainage. Timer andcontactors are available as options, see page 11.Complete Electric Defrost systems are available fromWITT.
HOT GAS RE-EVAP DEFROST - Available on all butthe PAH models. Includes an adjustable defrosttermination and fan delay (DTFD), factory installed.A hot gas drain circuit is supplied, thus eliminatingthe need for electric heat and additional wiring. AHeat Exchanger/Re-Evaporator is supplied withevery unit. Refer to the current Technical Bulletin HGfor piping. Complete Hot Gas Re-Evap systems areavailable from WITT, contact factory.
HOT GAS REVERSE CYCLE DEFROST - Availableon all but the PAH models. Includes an adjustabledefrost termination and fan delay. (DTFD) factoryinstalled. A hot gas drain pan circuit is supplied, thuseliminating the need for electric heat and additionalwiring. Refer to the current Technical Bulletin HGFor piping. This unit is also used for AlternatingEvaporator Systems.
