About the OranizationPointe West Performances (PWP) is a 501 (c) public charity founded by Suzanne Winland (Artistic Director). PWP serves as the backbone for its outreach program, The Infinite Legacy Project and its professional dance company, Pointillism Jazz Consort. Winland started PWP with the ambition to serve the Akron community by providing free dance performances to the public. Today, the organization serves in multiple communities along the east coast, with a strong concentration in Washington DC, producing free performances, humanities-based outreach programs, various artistic/cultural events, and scholarship programs. Pointe West Performances is the only local dance company to produce free performances and free educational programs on a continuous basis.

Pointillism Jazz ConsortPointillism is an eclectic and diverse group of professional dancers who ignite free performances in the community and all over the east coast. Pointillism collaborates with singers, instrumentalists, composers, actors, film makers, visual artists, lighting/costume/set designers, improv artists, programmers, web designers, etc. on a regular basis. Members come from all over the world: New York, NY; Washington, DC; Portland, OR; Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Akron/Cleveland, OH; London, UK to share their common love for the arts; a synergy that’s exhilarating!

The Infinite Legacy ProjectThe ILP is something that reaches beyond limitations and inspires new relationships. It began with some artists who had ideas and ideals. The first idea was free dance performances.

Page 3: Pointillism Jazz Consort and The Infinite Legacy Project ... · Pointillism Jazz Consort Pointillism is an eclectic and diverse group of professional dancers who ignite free performances

The next idea was to create a top flight class curriculum for dance in public schools. Next, was to make scholarships possible. Then it brought children into the theatre to perform “up close and personal” with professional dancers, vocalists, and actors…At last it created its own school – so kids and community members could go as far as they wanted with their dance interests! Kids from everywhere could come because Metro accessibility wouldn’t be a barrier.

Commercial vs. Culture & CommunityChildren are treated to projects, which use Pointillism artists from around the world to enrich their cultural experience and encourage community support of cultural growth. Our mission diverges greatly from the usual commercial experience in dance where costume retail and the child as the center of the consumer process are emphasized.

The ILP is centered on community service – with all of the responsibilities and gifts that process entails. Why is it a project?Because it is always doing something: classes, community education, performances, community activism. Why is it a legacy?Because its activities reach across barriers to create something lasting: community, art, healthy activity, self worth. Why is it infinite?Because it goes on forever – in unexpected ways – through the action of poetry, the singing of the soul. . .

“I watched affiliates of the company develop sincere and authentic relationships with the children they were teaching. Their talent and commitment to the Arts were evident in every interaction. . . The impact of The Infinite Legacy Project is immeasurable.” - An Akron Public School Master Teacher said regarding The ILP
