Motivate

Excitement can replace coffee in the morning. Being in the center of the circle at the Cara program was a very enlightening and humbling experience. I felt like I was receiving the energy of the group, and my heart was pounding well into the next day. It was like a wake-up call.

— Michele McMillan, Associate Consultant at PointBridge

Engage

“It is so important to work at a company that stresses the value of integrity and corporate citizenship. I am thankful for the opportunities my technology background has given me. It feels amazing to give that back to others.”

About The Cara Program:

Through an innovative spectrum of services, The Cara Program empowers motivated individuals affected by homelessness and poverty with the skills, confidence and resources to secure permanent employment and achieve real and lasting success. Since 1991, we have placed more than 2,700 working-age adults (70% of whom are moms and dads) into full-time, quality jobs with leading Chicago area companies, including several in the Fortune 500. These jobs pay an average wage of $10.84 per hour, with benefits (more than $2.50 higher than Illinois minimum wage). And, at least 72% of Cara students remain employed in that first job for at least one year (in comparison, companies nationwide have a 49.9% employee retention rate during a 12-month period).
