POEMS ABOUT LIFE

Life is the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose how to react. Every decision that we make leads us down a different road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision the we make has significance. The tiniest choice that we make reverberates throughout the entire universe.

The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew

In Loving Memory of Kelly Doe

She never got to dance,Or go to her own Prom. She never got the chance,To forget where she came from.

She never got to kiss,A man she idolized. She never felt love's bliss,'Cause she was paralyzed.

She never got to talk,About love with a smile. She never got to walk,Down a Church's Aisle.

She never got to say,Those precious words "I Do".But she was far and away,The strongest girl I ever knew.

She couldn't brush her hair,Or put make up on her face. She couldn't hold you dear,Or give you a warm embrace.

Page 2: Poems About Life

She couldn't clasp her hands,As if in the form of prayer. She couldn't understand,Why she was in a wheelchair.

She never showed her fears,Or let you hear her cries. She never showed the tears,That fell down from her eyes.

She never looked for pity,Or sympathy from you. That's why she'll always be,The strongest girl I ever knew.

Dear Addiction

I'm writing this to youTelling you we're throughI can't take you anymoreDon't know what I liked you forAll you did was wear me outNow I know what you're all about

You came to me with promise and joyNow look at all the things you destroyFamilies, lives, bank accounts you seeYou ruined it all with one little teaseLook at the way you make me feelThen you take it all and want me to steal

Why can't you just go and hideSomewhere far away where I'll never findEveryone at home doesn't understandHow you rip me apart, then lend me a handI keep coming back thinking inside

Page 3: Poems About Life

Maybe this time I'll make you my bride

Then I sit and wonder whyWhy do you really want me to dieThousands and thousands come to youHoping and praying you'll help them throughThen they fall for your lending handOnly to realize you're nothing but a scam

You promised me heaven and sent me to hellYou ruined my life and then wished me wellWatch me now as I go on my wayI'm washing myself of all of your painSo you and your power can just leave me beI'm taking my life and setting it free

You Will Never See Me Fall

You may see me struggle but you won't see me fall. Regardless if I'm weak or not I'm going to stand tall. Everyone says life is easy but truly living it is not.Times get hard, people struggleand constantly get put on the spot. I'm going to wear the biggest smile even though I want to cry. I'm going to fight to live even though I'm destined to die. And even though it's hard and I may struggle through it all. You may see me struggle...but you will NEVER see me fall.

Chasms And Bridges

Whether dancing the circleor sitting in the pews, the world is full of wonderand knee-jerk news.

For those full of spiteand woeful complaining, the world is full of darkness;no hope remaining.

Diversity spawnsattacking spasms, elevating hateand deepening the chasms.

You are who you are, smart as a fox;why confine yourselfto a bleak little box?

For those full of loveand compassion caring, the world is full of brightnessand warmth in sharing.

Diversity spawnsa chance to build bridges, elevating loveand life privileges.

You are who you are, smart as a fox;expressing yourself, you're out of that box!

We can make this worlda beautiful place

if we toss away frownsand put smiles on our face.

Abolish that burdenof complaints you've been lugging;begin building bridgesand get used to hugging!

My Special Friend

God blessed me one sunny dayHe sent me an angel from so far awayTo love and help me though all my woesTo guide and stand by me when I face my foes

Then one day God called her backI missed my angel so I followed her tracksNow in heaven all safe and soundI see my angel flying around

Now it's my turn to do a good deedI'm sent back to earth to help people in needSo when life's lessons are getting you down Don't sit there sulking and wearing a frown

Sit back and reflect all the good times you've seen Like weddings , birthdays and place's you've beenThink yourselves lucky because we are still hereTo hold the memories of loved ones so dear

This Is A Daily Reminder

This is a daily reminderTo relaxTo not get angry over small things

Page 6: Poems About Life

To stay calm

This is a daily reminderTo be yourselfTo not care what people thinkTo know you can be anything

This is a daily reminderTo love yourselfTo not hurt yourselfTo not work yourself up

This is a daily reminderThat you are beautifulThat you are amazingThat you will succeed

This is a daily reminderTo always have hopeTo have faithTo know everything will be okay

This is a daily reminderThat you have made it so far alreadyThat you haven't given up That whatever you're doing is rightAnd that you are going to be amazing

Don't give upKeep holding on and believing

My Carpe Diem!

Twenty-four hours on a clock's face,From sun up past sun down -- a rapid race.

The day begins with tickling the sleepy head,

Page 7: Poems About Life

One show with pop-tarts and juice, "I want Red".Dressing and washing and teeth to be brushed,Don't forget to potty and that the toilet gets flushed. With Nellie in the car and a toy in his bag,We're off to school, no time to lag.

Next comes the traffic, emails, and calls,No time for lunch, just vending down the hall.Quickly jot a list for errands after five,And chores to do at home before into bed I dive.

With my Fireman on board and his little dog, too,They tell me all about the animals from the zoo.

At home we arrive and unload our day,Kick off our shoes, it's time to go play.First hockey, then golf and a fast chase around. My Pirate's still sailing, but I've run aground.

Help Momma with supper, what will it be?Spaghetti and meatballs? Chicken and peas? You can stir. Be careful it's hot.I hope you're hungry, we've made a lot. Here's your fork and here's your spoon,Eat it all up or you'll be hungry soon.

Time for a bath with bubbles and toys,He's having fun, you can tell by the noise. The water's getting cold, the floor's soaking wet,Time to get out, get ready, get set.

Now into bed my little fellow,Go pick a toy for under your pillow. One cup of milk and two books to read,Prayers to God and kisses from me.The day is at end may you dream sweet,Until the next blessed day God lays at our feet.

Mighty Oak

Stand tall oh mighty oak, for all the world to see, your strength and undying beauty forever amazes me.Though storm clouds hover above you, your branches span the sky,in search of the radiant sunlight youcount on to survive. When the winds are high and restless and you lose a limb or two,it only makes you stronger, wecould learn so much from you.Though generations have come and goneand brought about such change, quietly you've watched them all yet stillremained the same.I only pray God give to me the strength he's given you,to face each day with hope, whether skies are black or blue,Life on earth is truly a giftevery moment we must treasure,it's the simple things we take for grantedthat become our ultimate pleasures.
