Poe Presentation: Lesson Plan and
Evaluation

Profile of Targeted students: -High School, Juniors or Seniors -Most of Pacific Islander Descent -Equal Male and female attendance -Middle to high achievers
Types of Learners Targeted -Audio Learners -Visual Learners -Tactile Learners -Linguistic & Artistic Intelligence exercised
State Objectives ⌘ Edgar Allan Poe Poem Presentation
* an alternate to essays or reports
Students: choose any Poe poem
Create a digital presentation explaining the following Content:
* Plot * Characters * Interpretation of Meaning * Language used * Rhyming Patterns, Form, and Voice
Presentations must include Images and effects
The Presentation Must be of Good Quality in the areas of Analysis as well as aesthetically
Presentation Must be Informational, as well as Creative"
Outside Sources" must be used
Select Instructional Methods, Media, & Materials: Guidelines for Presentation
A. Use of Technology
a. Were the Different Applications of Power Point, Key Note, or other digital Presentation software utilized by the student? - Includes graphs, charts, pictures, sounds, font styles and sizes, visual effects, videos, et cetera
B. Creativity and Thoroughness
- Was the Presentation creatively tailored and conducted?
- Were all topics presented thoroughly discussed and analyzed?
- Was the presentation attractive and appealing?
Use of Media and Materials: A. Images and other Visual Aids
- Were the Visual Aids of good quality? A. If there was sound,
was it clear B. Were images vivid and
sized properly
- Were the Aids Relevant?
- Was the overall use of visual aids distracting or helpful to the presentation?
B. Outside Sources
- Were the Sources legitimate & Helpful
- Were the original ideas of the sources represented accurately and cited
- Did the student use the source to its full advantages
- Were there at least two Sources
Require Learner Participation:
A. Organization and Preparation
- Were topics arranged & discussed in a cohesive sequence
- Did Presenters focus on one thing at a time
- Did Presenter seem comfortable and familiar with poem and topics
- Did presenter seem to have a Clear idea about what they were saying
B. Analysis of Poem
- Was the poem thoughtfully and intelligently discussed?
- Did the analysis reflect a sincere attempt to interpret the poem?
- Were the sources used correctly, to prove the presenter’s claims assertions
C. Inclusion of all required Content * Plot * Characters * Interpretation of Meaning * Language used * Rhyming Patterns, Form, & Voice - All discussion must be insightful & researched or explained well
Evaluate and Revise
A. Assignment may be too difficult for ESL students, and accommodations must be made for them such as:
- Pairing ESL student with a high achiever - Requiring only one or a couple Content items
B. Assignment can be broken down into parts
