The AS-35 and AS-50 are pneumatic proximityswitches. These Switches are activated by opposingmagnetic fields of the switch, and a PM-26 Float.
They provide very reliable point switching in levelapplications to activate alarms and to open and closevalves with pneumatic actuators. See Figure 2 forexamples of typical applications use.
No contact with process fluids
No valves or process piping required
No seals, diaphragms, springs, or torquetubes required
No cleaning required
Trip point easily adjustable
Vibration resistant
Non-corrosive housing
Field reversible action
Low air or gas consumption.
Unique Magnetic coupling concept
Ease of Mounting and adjustment - no specialtools required
Positive action
Integral high volume, rapid response relay
Hinged cover for quick access
The standard housing is a NEMA 4, stainlesssteel enclosure.
A small screwdriver or wrench are the only toolsnecessary. Two stainless steel clamps pass through themounting slots attached to the switch housing thenaround the PM-26 chamber. The switch can berepositioned easily by loosening the stainless clampthen sliding the switch along the chamber to therequired position. Two switches can be mounted to tripat the same point or at two different points separated byless than the length of a switch.

The AS-35, and AS-50 consists of the following
AS-50
The Spindle will rotate when the magnetic field of thefloat passes by the magnetic field of the SpindleMagnet. This 35 rotation will,0

Allow the Flapper to move away from the
When the Flapper presses against the Nozzle it willcause a back pressure to develop on the pneumaticrelay. This back pressure moves the actuationdiaphragm to a position that allows the supply air or gasto pass through the relay, and on to the pneumaticinstrument. - [ EXAMPLE Valve Actuator] When theFlapper moves away from the Nozzle the process isreversed. The Supply air or gas will be blocked and thepneumatic instrument will be vented to atmosphere.(Commonly called Block and Bleed). See Figure 1.
The following adjustments to the switch are easilyaccomplished.1) Air On - Air Off2) Trip Point Location
