Worldrsquos megaproject California High-speed Rail

We continue our journey to discover gigantic infrastructure projects around the world this month we look at California High-speed Rail the most expensive and ambitious project in America today By 2029 the high-speed rail phase 1 will connect San Francisco to Los Angeles in less than three hours at a speed up to 220 miles per hour In phase 2 the system will run to Sacramento and San Diego On its completion it will comprise of 800 miles of track with up to 24 stations With a construction and planning budget of $684 billion for Phase 1 only the project is the most

expensive public project in United States history and as with any big infrastructure project it is highly controversial
