Plymouth Township and the City of Plymouth are conducting a first-of-its-kind

Joint Recreation Master Plan. A Recreation Master Plan is required by State

Law and often by other governmental and private funding sources, and must

be developed every five years. The joint master plan should enhance our

ability to attract grants, and may lead to enhanced recreational opportunities

between our two communities. After two public meetings, and additional

input sessions with the City Commission and Board of Trustees, our

consultants continue to develop the plan with a target date of May 1.

Citizens’ Committee Planning For Future Of Golf Course

Plymouth Township’s Hilltop Golf

Course has been struggling in

recent years as people seek different

recreation opportunities. As a result,

your township government has been

losing money on Hilltop, and lacks the

funds needed to improve it. A special

Golf Course Study Group, made up of

two Trustees and 5 members of the general public, are meeting until the end

of April to review our current financial situation at Hilltop, and how we can

either improve or repurpose the golf course for new recreational options. The

public is invited to attend all meetings of the Golf Course Committee and pro-

vide input. Meetings are generally the first and third Tuesdays of the month

Protect our waterways – keep storm drains clean! We all live on a lake or stream. We might not

be able to see it from our window, but it’s there.

It might be a small stream or ditch or even the

storm drain in the street. All of these lead to a

river or lake.

Many people think industries dumping chemicals

are the source of water pollution, but the truth

is our water can also be harmed by things we do

every day at home. When it rains, water washes

over lawns, sidewalks, and streets. In addition to

litter, this water picks up chemicals found in lawn

fertilizers, bacteria found in pet waste, and oil from cars. This polluted water

then enters roadside ditches and the storm drains found in our streets.

Then large pipes carry the storm water to the closest lake or stream.

Council is returning in 2018. It’s a way for

residents to get involved and play an active

part in planning our community’s future.

in working with the Township Board of

Trustees in our policy-making process. It is

interested in serving on one or more of the

following committees:

ideas to improve the community.
