General Properties of PEM Pipe Material - PB

PB resins are flexible, linear polyolefin offering a unique combination of properties. They are producedfrom 1-butene as homopolymers and as copolymers with ethylene. Some of their important characteris-tics are: excellent resistance to creep at room and elevated temperatures - no failures after long termloading at 90% of yield strength; good toughness (high yield strength, high impact strength, high tearstrength, high puncture resistance); and exceptional resistance to environmental stress cracking.

HIGH FLEXIBILITYPB has the lowest flexural modulus of all the polymer resins used for domestic hot and cold waterplumbing pipes. Longer pipe runs can be used to accommodate change of direction.

TENSILE STRENGTH/PRESSURE PERFORMANCEPipes made from PB-1 has very high tensile strength even at higher temperatures resulting inhigh-pressure resistance and higher design stress than other plastic pipes also at elevated tempera-tures. This allows enhanced flexibility and lower wall thickness, as well as larger bore diameter providinggreater and necessary water flow through pipes, resulting in excellent performance from plumbinginstallations.

CREEP RESISTANCEThe Polybutene-1 (PB-1) pipe has excellent creep resistance that can not be attained by any other poly-mer used for plumbing purposes today. By reason of this PB-1 pipes maintain their unique pressure per-formance over very long service life times.

EASIER INSTALLATIONThe flexibility of PB pipes also provides easier installation in confined spaces. PB pipe is lightweight andcolored grey for ease of identification.

CORROSION FREE Pipe produced from PB-1 will not corrode like traditional pipes ie copper or GI because it does not reactwith ionic species commonly found in water and the service environment. Use of PEM PB pipes enablesuse of a wide variety of PEM polymer fittings, eliminating the use of solder and solvents. PEM PB systemunlike copper will not corrode and leach, harmful and dangerous substance into the potable water.

Installation Guidance for PUSH - FIT System

PIPE CUTTINGMark the spot where you wantto cut with pen. Then, cut thepipe smoothly and accuratelyin right angle by using PEMKOREA’s cutter

SUPPORT SLEEVE INSERTSupport Sleeve, an integralpart of the joint, needs to befully inserted inside the pipebefore connecting the pipeinto the PEM’s PB Fitting orBrass Fitting.

PIPE & FITTING INSERTThe pipe should be insertedinto the fitting to full socketlength such that the lengthmade alignment with the outerend of the cap on the fittings.

DO NOT RE-JOINTPEM pipe should not beremoved from the fitting byremoving the cap. If you needout of joint it, never use thesame grab ring twice and mustfollow the PEM’s assemblemethod

DO NOT USE TOOLCap is factory fitted part toobtain the proper torque,requires no further more tight-ening. If cap becomes loose, itcan be tighten by had, easily,without using tool.must followthe PEM’s assemble method

DO NOT SUDDEN BENDThe PEM pipe must not bebent after connection. If it wasbent, it could cause to be leak-age point, or damage the gripring.
