Speed and saety. Why induction heating is ideal
or oshore applications.Flameless, fast, controllable and mobilethese are just some of the features that make
induction perfect for a range of offshore applications.
Induction heating looks like it could have been in-
vented specially or the oshore industry. To start
with, its a fameless, no-contact heating method that
can be used in areas o-limits to open fames. In-
duction heating is mobile, too. Compact yet power-
ul induction systems are easily transported to even
the most inaccessible sites. Induction is also fexible.
The same system can be used or numerous appli-
cationsor everything rom pre- and post-heating
o pipes to emergency repairs on oshore installa-
tions.
Some typical applications
The fexibility o induction heating means it can be
used in practically any situation requiring ast, local-
ized and controllable heat. EFD Induction systems
can be used or the ollowing applications:
Post-weld heat treatment
Pre-weld heat treatment
Pre-heating beore coating
Tube bending
Shrink tting and removal
Removal o paint and coatings
Curing o coatings
Pre-heating prior to cladding
Pre- and post-heating o swaged ends

or post-weld heat treatment.
An example o induction pre-heating. The pipe is being
heated prior to receiving an anti-corrosive coating.

The EFD Induction Minac.Proven in the toughest
environments.Minac is one o EFD Inductions ve equipment
amilies, and the one most commonly used or
oshore applications. Many Minac models come
in Twin versions oering two independent power
outputs. The Twin versions eature split control panel
displays rom which each output can be set up and
controlled. Minacs can also be used together with
separate heating stations. This lets the Minac support
large, fexible coils that can be shaped onsite to t
curved or irregular-shaped workpieces.
EFD Induction systems have been used or hot tap
welding on the bed o the North Sea. Here, the subsea
work skid that stores the EFD Induction equipment is
hoisted back onto the ship.
