Replacing a hard drive with an SSD in a notebook is normally a very simple procedure and
no harder than adding additional memory. Once you’ve finished the previous two stages and
the cloning process is complete you will need: the SSD, your notebook’s operating
manual, a screwdriver, and a little patience.
Note: Each notebook is slightly different so follow the instructions in the notebook’s
operating manual, you should also check if disassembly affects the notebook warranty prior
to starting.
- Step 1.Go to the BIOS settings
and change the SATA type to
AHCI Mode.
• Step 2.Power down the notebook, disconnect the power supply, and remove the battery (if possible), undo the cover screws with the screwdriver, then carefully remove the cover.
10
• Step 3.Remove the screws holding the hard drive in place, and take out the hard drive.
• Step 4.Place the Plextor SSD into the drive bay, ensure that the SATA port is connected correctly, secure the SSD with the screws, now replace and rescrew the notebook cover.
11
• Step 5.Reboot your notebook to experience SSD performance, you’re done!
