• They are commonly cultivated edible mushrooms.• They grow in clusters and groups, in dead wood broadleaf
and fir trees. • They are growing in autumn and summer. They have rich
flesh and delicate flavor and are very famous in Greek cuisine as they are a rich source of vitamins.

Nutritional value of mushrooms• Pleurotus mushrooms are high in protein and low in
saturated fat and sodium. • Due to the presence of all the essential amino acids, are
high quality, far superior to plant protein, while the protein they contain approaches the quality of animal protein.
