OUR #1 PRIORITY & GOAL:
Serving YOU & Your Business! We hope to again have that opportunity in
2021
As we arrive in March, and start seeing less and less (if any) cold fronts, I am reminded of how impactful Covid-19 has been on all of us in many different ways (losing loved ones, economically, socially, travel, etc.). Specifically for your Marathon Chamber, we would be knee-deep in finalizing our planning for Marathon’s biggest and best event, the Original Marathon Seafood Festival. As you know, we unfortunately cancelled this year’s event, which ironically signifies the one-year anniversary of the pandemic officially hitting us and causing so may life changing issues for us all.
This time last year was also the last time we held our typical monthly networking events for you all. We are proud to announce they are returning this month, and we cannot wait to welcome you all back!
· Wednesday, March 10th: Business After Hours will be from 5:30-7:30PM at Isla Bella Beach Resort. Free admission as always for our members (members only of course). Isla Bella will have complimentary libation and appetizers, and of course there will be great networking opportunities for fellow members.
· Tuesday, March 16th: Membership Luncheon will be from 12-1PM at Key Colony Inn Restaurant. Our featured speakers will be Marathon City Mayor Luis Gonzalez, Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron, and Monroe County Dept. of Health Director Bob Eadie. So we have a great trio of speakers, and of course great food and com-pany. RSVPs are required (call Erika: 305-743-5417 / [email protected]).
We are planning a new event for July 17-18, 2021, since our Seafood Festival was cancelled. We will have more info and ways to get involved later this month, but mark your calendars and feel free to call me anytime for more info. The event will affectionately be called FL Keys BrewBQ, which will feature craft beers, BBQ cuisine, live music, vendors, and a BBQ cooking competition with great prizes!
Have a great March everyone! Please remember (if you haven’t already) to send in your membership renewal dues that were mailed out in December, online payment is now available for your convenience. We greatly appreciate your membership with us and look forward to continuing to serve, support, promote, and advocate for your business. Please never hesitate to contact me to help you in any way. Here’s to a safe and profitable March!
Most Respectfully,
Daniel Samess, M.S. • CEO Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce • (305) [email protected] • www.FloridaKeysMarathon.com • www.RelocateToTheFloridaKeys.com • www.MarathonSeafoodFest.com
One Year not-so Anniversary
Established in 2020 in Marathon, Chapters Health Hospice cares for patients with a six month or less prognosis, which is provided by an interdisciplinary team. Hospice services also include durable medical equipment, medical supplies and medication as well as bereavement support for the individuals and family.
“Hospice care is unique. It is a patient-centric philosophy that focuses on one’s quality of life, while managing the physical and emotional aspects of the disease or diagnosis,” said Vivian Dodge, executive director.
Chapters Health Hospice is an affiliate of Chapters Health System, one of the nation’s premier not-for-profit, community-based healthcare organizations headquartered in Temple Terrace, Florida. Chapters Health offers a full continuum-of-care services including hospice, palliative care, home health, and other community-based care models.

Established in 1989, Monroe County Bail Bonds is a local, family-operated bail bonding agency that is fully licensed and insured. Professional bondsmen are available to assist residents and visitors of Monroe County 24-hours a day in locales including Plantation Key, Marathon, and Key West. The agency has statewide bonding authority and handles all state and federal criminal bonds as well as immigration bonds.
“Our number one key to success is availability,” said Eric Vigil. “Monroe County Bail Bonds always has at least one licensed bail bondsman on call ready to answer your questions and post bond for your loved no matter the time of day or night.”
Vigil warns the public to do business locally. “Do your research and steer clear of any advertisements lacking clear addresses. The last thing you want is to have to hunt down a shady, fly-by-night agency to retrieve any property you may be required to place for security,” he said. “Furthermore, when dealing with a non-local company, the bail process can be postponed for hours while they journey from the mainland.”
