Yard Light and Cold Weather

You may experience or notice your yard light having some trouble this

winter, such as periodically failure to turn on, or

it appears dimmer than normal. Severe cold

weather, especially below negative 10 de-

grees, may affect the operation of your yard

light.

If you have a gas filled lamp, the problem in-

volves the formation of gas inside the bulb that

is hampered by the cold. The gas cannot do its job when it is very cold

out. Normally when the temperatures come back up, the lights return

to working properly again.

If you experience trouble with your yard light, it may be related to the

cold temperatures. If you think your yard light is not working properly

or it doesn’t return to normal operation when the weather warms up,

please let us know.

It’s that time of year again...

Lineman are out getting annual meter readings and checking

meters. So, you might see them in your yard or in your area.

We do ask that you are cautious and slow down if you see an

REC truck pulled over on the side of the road or ditch. They are

working hard to make sure our equipment, lines and poles are

maintained and working properly.

Thank you for your cooperation!
