Film Night

Thank you for all the support for the Film Night we raised approximately £440, which is a great step towards our total of £5000 for the year.

Winter Wonderland Christmas Fayre - Saturday 2nd December

This year we are going to be holding our Christmas Fayre on a Saturday and we are calling it

our ‘Winter Wonderland’ Christmas Event. It will run from 11.30—2.30pm. More information will come out nearer the time but please save the date as we would love to see

you there!

If you are able to volunteer to help at the event, please inform the office and we will pass your

name to the FJSA.

Rotary Club Shoebox Appeal 2017

Last week at school, the house captains were very busy

sorting out the shoebox appeal. In total we had 98

shoeboxes and we would really like to thank everyone

who completed one. We counted all the boxes and sorted

them into house groups, and we have finally got the

results for the house competition we set. In the end

Bramley donated the most with 34 shoeboxes, then

Empire with 27, Russet with 21 and finally Winston with

16.

We are very happy and thankful for all the shoeboxes that we managed to donate. They will all

be going on a plane in the next few weeks to Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and Romania. All

the children who receive a shoebox will be really happy. Once again thank you for bringing them

in. Hopefully we get a letter/video of them receiving their gifts.

Dodgeballers!

This week, Wildern School saw six schools from our partnership join

together in a Dodgeball Festival. There were also events at Botley and

Wyvern to cater for the interest. This was a fun event designed to enable

children to experience a competitive event. Freegrounds took a team of

eight mixed Year 4 and 5 children, who

represented the school with a great attitude. Not only did the team have a

great time, but they won 4 of their 5 games and drew the other! Not only

was this a super achievement, but they were by far the fairest team too!

Well done Freegrounds!

Cubby Hole Reminder

Coats and bags have always been a problem to store in

schools and so we have introduced cubby holes for

pupils in all year groups which has really helped to keep

the shared areas tidy and reduce the amount of lost

property collected each term! Drinks bottles, PE kits

and home /school diaries are stored in the classroom

and so it is just a coat and small bag to go into their

cubby hole. We have reminded the children that we are

like a high class airline with only limited storage! The

cubby holes measure 32cm wide x 25cm high x 33cm

deep. Please can we ask that children only bring in the

resources they need for school e.g. home-school diary, reading book, water bottle and lunchbox.

Large bags are not necessary and do not fit in the cubby holes. Thank you for your support with

this. (NB. If they are wet, coats will be stored in the classroom).

Flu Immunisation Programme for Year 3 and 4

On Thursday 9th November, the school nursing team came into to school to

administer the flu immunisation to Year 3 and 4 children. The children were all

very brave, and when the nursing team left they complimented them on their

beautiful manners and very good behaviour.

This half term we are focusing on a new Learning to Learning skill–

Independence. To launch this new Learning to Learn skill Mrs Hawkins

led an assembly where we explored how to be independent in our

learning. During the assembly Miss Hindley willing volunteered to learn

how to juggle 3 balls using different independent learning techniques

such as; asking a friend, using resources e.g. the internet or a book,

being positive and resilient or seeking feedback to know how to improve.

We can’t wait for assembly next week to see how she is getting on!

All classes will be doing some further work on independence and the

Learning Council are going to be thinking about how to celebrate when children have displayed

the Learning to Learn skill of Independence.

Health and Safety

Due to safeguarding, please can all parents/carers report to the school office if they need to see a teacher, make an appointments, use the toilet facilities or look for lost property. I’m sure you can

appreciate the importance of doing this to ensure the safety of the children in our care.

Health & Safety

COATS—With the cold weather well on its way can we please ask that you ensure your child wears a named coat to school as all children go outside at lunchtime and breaktime.

WATER BOTTLES—Staying hydrated even in the winter months is very important. Please can all children bring a named water bottle to school everyday.

Please note that we are a NUT FREE school. Please take care to check that items in packed lunchboxes do not contain nuts.
