No.19. 19 th November, 2015 Please remember now that we are in term 4, hats are required to be worn when students are outside otherwise they will be asked to play in the shade. Bucket hats and broad brim hats can be purchased from the uniform shop for $8.00 each. Principals Report Mrs Fahey will be returning next Monday after a difficult few weeks away. I am looking forward to her return and have a new respect for all her hard work after trying to fill her shoes over this time. The teachers and other staff members have continued their hard work and are now in the process of writing reports which are due home on Friday December 11 th . Congratulations to Miss Bush who will be getting married this Saturday. We all wish her the best for a wonderful day and the beginning of a new stage in her life. She will be away Week 8 but will be returning for Week 9. Mrs Barlow will be taking her class while she is away. It has come to my attention that some parents are taking their children early from school and are not signing their children out for the day. The children need to be signed out through the office so that we are aware if we have duty of care particularly in the event of an emergency such as a fire. Tomorrow the children in the 5/6 classes will be taking part in a drama workshop. The workshop is free for our students but I have been asked to let families know that the “Home front” Theatre group will be performing at the CWA hall on Friday night at 7.30 pm. The cost is $25 per adult, $15 concession and $10 for children under 16. All are welcome. P&C Christmas Twilight Market Fete Fairy lights and bunting, Christmas market stalls, children’s laughter, coffee and music, face painting, freshly picked (school grown) garden delights, treasure island and pancakes, jumping castles, white elephant, chocolate wheel and silent auctions and so much more were experienced at this year’s twilight market fete. We were lucky to dodge the rain as massive black clouds threatened our fun. But we were not to be out done and the evening continued with great success. We wish to thank all of you who donated your time to help set up, run stalls and pack away when everyone is feeling exhausted! A big thank you to all the Yass Public staff for their contribution and effort towards making this fete fun and successful. We also wish to thank the following businesses for their generous donations towards our chocolate wheel and silent auctions… Miller’s Pharmacy, Yass Golf Course, Soul Pattinson Yass Pharmacy, SMD Beauty, Kidz Blitz, Yazzbar, Roses Café, Galutzi Café, 3 Cute Girls, Questacon, Canberra Dinosaur Museum, Cockington Green and Magic Hands Massage. Donations from these businesses make it possible for the P&C to fund additional learning programs and purchase resources. By saying ‘thank you for supporting our school’ next time you’re visiting one of these businesses you’re recognising the extra help these generous donators offers our school. We thank the local businesses who added to the fete by running stalls at our twilight market. We successfully raised $4000 at the fete. This is a significant contribution to the fund raising efforts for this year that will be used directly towards supporting your children and their learning.

Donation to P&C

On Saturday 14th November the Yass Rodeo Committee very generously donated $1000 to the Yass Public School P&C Association to assist in our fundraising efforts. This money was very gratefully accepted by Darcie O’Sullivan ( a House Captain) and her mum Glynese at the Yass Rodeo. Yr. 5/6 Backyard Rugby League. Luke from “Backyard League” has been working with the 5 & 6 students on football skills. In the first week we discussed the usual rules of rugby league with Luke. We had to decide which rules we would use in our own games. The second week we went down to the oval and Luke showed us kicking and stepping skills. Then we played a practice game to build confidence. We won some cool prizes for good sportsmanship. Next week is the last week and we will be playing games using the rules we decided on. We will be playing with teams of 4 and our games will be non-competitive. We won’t have a referee either because we are just playing for fun. By Reuben Robinson & Riley Wilson.
