POWER COMMANDER V INPUT ACCESSORY GUIDE

Map - (Input1or2)ThePCVhastheabilitytohold2differentbasemaps.YoucanswitchontheflybetweenthesetwobasemapswhenyouhookupaswitchtotheMAPinputs.Youcanuseanyopen/closetypeswitch.Thepolarityofthewiresisnotimportant.WhenusingtheAutotunekitonepositionwillholdabasemapandtheotherpositionwillletyouactivatethelearningmode.Whentheswitchis“CLOSED”Autotunewillbeactivated.(SettoSwitchInput#1bydefault.)

Shifter- (Input1or2)TheseinputsareforusewiththeDynojetquickshifter.InsertthewiresfromtheDynojetquickshifterintotheSHIFTERinputs.Thepolarityofthewiresisnotimportant.(SettoSwitchInput#2bydefault.)Thisoptiondoesnotapplytowatercraft.

Speed- Ifyourapplicationhasaspeedsensorthenyoucantapintothesignalsideofthesensorandrunawireintothisinput.ThiswillallowyoutocalculategearpositionintheControlCenterSoftware.Oncegearpositionissetupyoucanalteryourmapbasedongearpositionandsetupgeardependentkilltimeswhenusingaquickshifter.Thisoptiondoesnotapplytowatercraft.

Analog- Thisinputisfora0-5vsignalsuchasenginetemp,boost,etc.Oncethisinputisestablishedyoucanalteryourfuelcurvebasedonthisinputinthecontrolcentersoftware.

Crank- DoNOTconnectanythingtothisportunlessinstructedtodosobyDynojet.Itisusedtotransfercranktriggerdatafromonemoduletoanother.

ACCESSORY INPUTS

Wire connections:

ToinputwiresintothePCVfirstremovetherubberplugonthebacksideoftheunitandloosenthescrewforthecorrespondinginput.Usinga22-24gaugewirestripabout10mmfromitsend.PushthewireintotheholeofthePCVuntilisstopsandthentightenthescrew.Makesuretoreinstalltherubberplug.

NOTE:Ifyoutinthewireswithsolderitwillmakeinsertingthemeasier.

1 Removetheseat,thetwosidepanelsforwardoftheseatonbothsidesofthewatercraft,thesmallpanelbelowtheseatontheleftside,the2smallpanelsattherearofthehull,andtheoilfilleraccesscapontherightsideofthehull(Fig.A).

2 Disconnectthesteeringcablefromunderthehandlebars.Loosenitfromthehull.Pullitthroughthehullandintotheenginecompartment.

Do the same for the reverse gate cable, if applicable.

3 Behindthelowerpanelontheleftsideofthewatercraftthatwasremovedinstep1,unplugthemainwiringharnessconnectorthatleadsoutoftheleftsideofthehullanduptotheinstrumentcluster(Fig.B).

4 Removethe3boltsaroundthefuelfillercapandallofthebolts(several)aroundtheouteredgeoftheupperhullassembly.

5 Lifttheupperhullassemblyupandoffofthewatercraft.Setitasidetemporarily.

The entire engine compartment should now be accessible.

6 UnplugthestockMAP/IATsensor(Fig.C).

This sensor is located directly on top of the intake plenum.

Clean both surfaces with the supplied alcohol swab prior to applying the Dual Lock adhesive.

Bypassing the PCV

IntheeventyouneedtoruntheenginewithoutthePCVmodule,thesuppliedbypassplugwillreturntheenginecontrolandtunebacktostock.RefertoFigureO.

2 PlugthebypassplugintothePCVwiringharnessinplaceofthemodule.

EFI Tuning with PCVThePCVmakesfuelingchangesbasedoffofthevaluesinthemapstoredinthePCV.

ThePCVisshippedwithaZeroMap.AZeroMapmeansthatallthevaluesare0,whichwillyieldnochangesandthewatercraftwillrunexactlythesameasiftheunitwerenotinstalled.

WhenamapisloadedintothePCV,theenginefuelingwillbeadjustedaccordingtothevaluesinthemap.

ThePCVdoesnotmakechangestotheECUprogramming.ThenumbersinthePCVmapaddorsubtractapercentageofthefueltheECUissupplyingforaparticularloadcondition.Forexample,ifthePCVmapshowsa10inagivencell,thePCVincreasestheamountoffueltheECUissupplyingby10%.IfthePCVmapshowsa-10inagivencell,thePCVreducestheamountoffueltheECUissupplyingby10%.

Whentuning,alwaysstartwithasettingwherethemotorrunsrich.Slowlytrimfuelouttofindthedesiredexhaustgastemperature(EGT)orair-to-fuelratio(A/F).

ThePCVgivesyouthefreedomtosubtractupto99%andaddupto250%ofthefueltheECUissupplyingforaparticularcondition.

WhenaddingfuelwiththePCV,theinjectordutycyclemayreach100%(alwaysopen)beforethePCVfuelchangevaluereaches100%.Forexample,iftheECUisrunningtheinjectorsat67%dutycycle(injectorsopen67%ofthetime)thenadding50%fuelwiththePCVwillmaxouttheinjectors.Inthiscase,theamountoffuelthatcanbeaddedwillbelimitedbytheinjectors.

Primarily,tunerswillchoosetomapthefuelingbasedoffofathrottlepositionversusRPMfueltable;however,thedevicehasthecapabilitytomapfuelingbasedoffofintakemanifoldairpressureversusRPMaswell.
