We will look at some Primary Source Documents on Why WWII Started today. As we read through these documents, answer the questions on the handout.
Please find a partner to work with and sit with them. Then get a Green Packet and a white handout.

Axis Aggression Take Aways
• Before Starting WWII, Japan, Italy and Germany all test the surrounding countries to see what they will do.
• Japan invades Korea, Manchuria and China for resources and power– The USA does nothing in exchange for control of the Philippines.– Europe remains uninterested.
• Italy invades Ethiopia– Ethiopia asks the League of Nations for help, but the countries of
the League can’t agree on what to do and do nothing.• Germany invades the Rhineland, Austria, and the Sudetenland.
– The countries of Europe do nothing, afraid that Germany will start a war they aren’t ready to fight.
– The countries of Europe eventually call the Munich Conference and decide to sacrifice Czechoslovakia to Germany in exchange for peace.
