The purpose of the conference is to complete the commission of the 2016 General Conference to seek “A Way Forward” for the UMC regarding doctrine and practice on issues of human sexuality. More information regarding plans to be considered are available in a handout in the church office. Links to information are there for you to stay connected and pray as information comes from the conference. Visit our primary news website of the United Methodist Church (www.umnews.org) and follow links there. Be on watch also this week for links on our own Texas Conference UMC web site (www.txcumc.org), where our bishop, Scott Jones, will communicate to leaders of the Texas Annual Conference both during the conference and after the conference. For now, please lift your prayers for a clear discernment of God’s will regarding the Church. I also want to ask for your support for The Passion of Christ 2019 outdoor play coming April 12, 13 and 14 at Lake Palestine UMC. This presentation of the Easter Story has become a growing source of ministry and outreach to our larger community, free of charge. I have agreed to play the part of Peter the disciple this year. Other parts, speaking and non-speaking are available at this time, but you need to act soon and let me know. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Saturdays where your character is needed. Saturday, Feb 23, from 9 AM to Noon volunteers are needed to help build the set at the amphitheater. If inclement weather, we may reschedule for Sunday afternoon. Called to go and make new disciples, I hope you will consider ways to help us share the Gospel story. Speak to me and learn more, or visit the Facebook Page (The Passion of Christ 2019) for details. I would be proud to see PRUMC represented alongside our sister congregations at Lake Palestine UMC and Chandler First UMC! As the Year Passes… A Look in ScriptureAs the Year Passes… A Look in ScriptureAs the Year Passes… A Look in ScriptureAs the Year Passes… A Look in Scripture We are well into the “New Year”. While we can't know what is coming in this year, we can find hope in God's word, and maintain a positive outlook that things will be better than ever as the year passes. Here are a few verses from Scripture I hope will help us frame the year from a positive, hopeful and God focused perspective.

Remember God’s blessings: Remember God’s blessings: Remember God’s blessings: Remember God’s blessings: Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,… 1 Chronicles 16:11-12 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

Focus on God’s plans: Focus on God’s plans: Focus on God’s plans: Focus on God’s plans: See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Don’t worry about what is to come: Don’t worry about what is to come: Don’t worry about what is to come: Don’t worry about what is to come: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

Plan ahead: Plan ahead: Plan ahead: Plan ahead: A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t, and even brags about it! Proverbs 13:16 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?” Luke 14:28-30 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:4

Give thanks: Give thanks: Give thanks: Give thanks: Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. Psalm 100:4 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

I'm filled with hope for what is to come here at PRUMC, and I have thankfulness in my heart for what has already passed. I pray that I will keep my focus, that we will keep our focus, on where it needs to be this year and that we'll all have a year filled with joy, love and happiness.

See you Sunday, -Otis

Join us for VBS and spread the word to all your friends!

I know this seems like a long ways off, but it will be here before we know

it and we will of course need helpers! We are hoping to make this our

best VBS yet! Save the date and start thinking about where you would like to

volunteer! A sign up sheet will be posted in the Welcome Center after

Easter.

We will also be asking the church for some supply donations (either to borrow or donate). Right now we know we will need: -Canopy tents (NOT camping tents) - see example —> -Queen or King size FLAT sheets (any color)

There will probably be more items, but this is what we know of right now. Monetary donations to purchase these items will also be welcome! Thank you in advance for your support of this important ministry in our church and community!

Every year, Saginaw UMC UMW

invites all our ladies to join them

on their Women’s Retreat.
