Overheard from a neighboring booth at a Denny’s. Pretty sure this a couple and their child (father (?) is A, mother (?) is B and daughter (?) is C). They didn’t sound really irritated with each other through this, more like a repeated routine that they’re all used to.
ADid you know that this was on inside out?
BNo I didn’t notice anything //was on
CWhat was on //inside out
BInside out.
CWhat was on inside out?
BWhat’s funny is that you were—you are the person to notice that out of everyone in this room. That’s //pretty funny
CWait what are you talking about? SilenceWhat—what are you talking about?More silence
C(plaintive)

BDid you not see it?
CNo!

C(getting progressively higher-pitched)
Oh your sweater was—I thought you were talking about the //movie—
BI knew, I knew that you didn’t care. I knew I was like, why would I even need to tell her? She doesn’t care. //And I was right.
CNo, I didn’t—I thought you were talking about the movie.
BI knew what I was—not answering for a reason.
C(trailing off)
Oh, I’m sorry, //I’m sorry…
BWhy am I wasting my—hey, why are all the, why are all the salts gone?
