A player/team must complete a match in progress, and com-
plete the tournament, unless he/she/team is incapacitated by
illness, accident or other unavoidable hindrance and is reason-
ably unable to do so.
Violation of this Section shall subject a player to immediate
default and assessment of two Tennis Canada and 5 Interna-
tional Tennis Federation suspension points."
Players should be prepared to wear white tennis clothing at the
Mount Royal Tennis Club and the Hillside Tennis Club. Please note
that collared shirts for gentlemen are also required at the Hillside
Tennis Club. The Cote St. Luc, Woodland, Monkland and Hamp-
stead tennis clubs, require proper tennis attire to be worn
(coloured clothing is allowed). Please be aware that although you
are tentatively scheduled at a specific club, there is a
strong possibility that you may be asked to play at another venue,
so players must be prepared to wear white clothing if that venue
requires it.

WELCOME The Mount Royal Tennis Club began preparations to host competitors from
across Canada in November of 2017. It is our great pleasure to open our club to
players for the Steve Stevens National Tennis Championships.
We are proud of our long and glorious history of supporting national and inter-
national events. The Mount Royal has hosted the largest number of Davis Cup
ties in the history of tennis, held a competition between England’s Wightman
Cup and local players in 1923, and, over the decades, played “friendlies” be-
tween the Wimbledon Tennis Club and select senior players from our club. Once
again this year, in cooperation with Tennis Canada, and for the fourth time since
2003, the MRTC will welcome participants to the National Championships, the
most important competition of the year for Canadian elite senior tennis players.
As you can imagine, an event of this size would not be possible without the in-
volvement of other local tennis clubs. Our thanks to Côte St-Luc (Ryan
Nemeroff), Hampstead (Irene Lehaie), Hillside (Charles Porteous), Monkland
(Karen Stearns), and Woodland (Jean Carrière). A grateful thank you to our
MRTC volunteers and staff who work so hard to welcome players from across
Canada. Finally and most importantly, a special thank you to our MRTC mem-
bers who graciously give up their courts for a week in a short summer season in
Montreal.
In addition to testing your skills against other players from across Canada, we
hope you will have the time over the course of the week to renew friendships
and experience all that Montreal has to offer from the culture to the food scene.
Enjoy the ambiance of our club and as we say in Quebec…bon tennis.
Fern Grace Whitehouse
President

WELCOME
Dear Tournament Participant,
We welcome you to Hillside Tennis Club for the 2018 Steve Stevens Tourna-ment. We are extremely proud to be supporting the tennis community as a co-host of this prestigious tournament for the first time in our Club’s history.
As you enter the gates to Hillside, you will discover a hidden oasis that has been in existence for the past 93 years. Tucked discreetly on Mount Royal, Hillside is home to mature trees, perennial gardens, a private outdoor pool and six first class Har-Tru courts.
