CH= Celebration Hymnal (Red) PH= Psalter Hymnal (Blue)
“Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him.
The Lord has made His salvation known
and revealed His righteousness to the nations.” Psalm 98:1-2
WELCOME: As we gather together on this very first day of the
year, we commit the whole year to our Heavenly Father who
knows already what all shall transpire in these 365 days. May
you also know today the double joy of worshipping sincerely
and the joy of having the presence of the Good Shepherd with
you each step of the way, each hour of the day.
We invite you to join us in the Fellowship Hall following the
our morning service for refreshments and fellowship. Our
refreshments this morning are in honor of Pastor Drew &
Katie’s 1st Anniversary. Congratulations!!
Children aged 3-5 meet your teachers in the Narthex during
the offering this morning for Children’s Church.
Pastor’s Book Study: We meet this afternoon at 4:30 PM and
Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Read chapter 8; questions should be
in your box. We will not meet next Sunday, January 8.
ABOUT OUR MESSAGES
As the calendar turns to 2017, the book of Ecclesiastes leads us
to ponder the issue of time. We look forward to a new year,
but the Teacher points out the harsh reality that, really,
nothing is new. This morning, we will look at Ecclesiastes 3:1-
15. Next week, we welcome Dr. Lance Griese to our pulpit as
Pastor Drew is serving a classical assignment preaching in
Sioux Center.
This evening, we welcome Rev. Dan DeGraff of Corsica CRC
to deliver God’s Word. As part of this pulpit exchange, Pastor
Drew will be at New Holland CRC. Next week, Pastor Drew
will begin a year-long evening series based on the Heidelberg
Catechism, looking at Mark 12:28-34.
PRAYERS AND PRAISES
Please continue to be in prayer for Jennie Bultsma and
Harriett Meyerink, who were both hospitalized in Platte
during this past week and are recovering.
From the Deacons: We would like to thank the congregation for their
generous financial support in the past year. We are also grateful to all
who were so willing to pitch in and help out whenever the need arose.
Thank you to all!
UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
Council will meet this Tuesday, January 3 at 7:00 PM,
followed by the Elders Meeting.
Coffee Break will resume this week Wednesday at 9:30 AM
with Lesson 12.
Next Sunday, January 8, we will be having a potluck after the
morning service for our missionaries, Victor and Lori
Selemani and family. Please bring a salad or a dessert.
Sunday School for Kindergarten through High School will
resume after our morning services, next Sunday, January 8.
Next Sunday, January 8 at 2:30 PM, Care Center Devotions
will be provided by Group #1. Please note that the groups for
this year have changed! If you are in this group, you will have
instructions in your church mailbox.
Adult Bible Study will be held on Sunday, January 8 at 5:00
PM in the Society Room. We will continue with the Parables
of Jesus, Lesson 9: “The Parable of the Good Samaritan”. All
adults are welcome to join us!
High School Parents: Due to Pastor Drew being gone next
week, please meet with him and your students in the Society
Room immediately after the morning service on January 15
regarding the note received in your mailboxes.
In connection with the upcoming Sanctity of Life Sunday, on
January 22, 2017, we will be giving gifts to the Alpha Center
to help meet their needs. Their greatest needs are formula
(Enfamil, the yellow container), girls' clothing, diapers (all siz-
es but mostly sizes 4-5), and baby food. Please keep this in
mind when you find the "after Christmas sales".
Attention Deer Hunters: If anyone has extra venison to share
with SERVE, we would really appreciate it. Ground or cubed,
it will be put to good use! Talk to Harriett Sybesma 337-2545.
REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS
Monday, January 2, the DCS Fellowship will be sponsoring a
mashed potato bar at the ACDC vs Stickney/Corsica basketball
game. Join us for an evening of basketball, fellowship and
food. Serving starts at 5 PM.
The Platte Care Center is looking for families or groups as
volunteers for Sunday hymn sings (2:30 PM each Sunday).
They normally have a couple songs and a short message/
devotional with singing after and coffee and snacks to follow
(supplied by the care center). If this is something families or
groups are interested in, PCC is looking to fill several slots for
2017. Please call Nichole Urban, Activities Coordinator, at 337-3364.
Sock Donations needed from baby to adult sizes to be handed
out during the Justice For All January trip to Resplandor De
Vida Children’s Home, Juarez, Mexico. You can drop socks
in the tote in the Narthex. If you would like to donate for other
needs, there is more information on the tables in the narthex.

subjects. We emphasize God’s truth in all areas of life to
equip students for service in our world today and tomor-
row.” (from dchs.net)
Next week, our offerings will be for Victor & Lori Selemani
