Potential ImpactDART’s Platform Extensions Project will improve mobility and the quality of life for thousands of North Texas residents. By extending the platforms on the Red and Blue lines, we will:

• Reduce congestion on light railtrains by at least 12%.

• Accommodate up to 33% morepassengers through downtown.

• Improve accessibility by addinga third level-boarding locationon each side of the platform at28 stations.

Federal InvestmentEight of DART’s nine congressional districts will be positively impacted by this project. (CDs: 3, 4, 5, 24, 26, 30, 32 and 33.)

Financial PartnersTotal Project Cost: $118.6 million

• 51% local funds(TxDOT - $60 million)

• 49% federal funds– $9.6 million from FY 2014,

FY 2015 and FY 2016 budgets– $49 million in the

FY 2017 budget

Along the Red and Blue lines, 28 light rail stations – which lie outside of Downtown Dallas and were built before 2004 – need to be lengthened and/or modified to accomodate three-car trains.

Once all stations in the DART Rail System can accommodate longer trains, the agency will have the capacity to move 33% more passengers per hour through Downtown Dallas during the busiest operating times.
