Why use gold when you can use MKM brass?

If you choose MKM brass you can say goodbye to gold. Seriously: industries like apparatus engineering, en-

graving and printing value its outstanding properties and have done for a very long time. Brass is currently profiting from an unbroken trend in architecture to-wards non-ferrous metal, which is used for things like cladding and facades as well as decorative and deep-drawn parts. Brass has been used for many centuries in the arts and crafts.

Our brass individual sheets and plates are manufac-tured entirely in-house, from casting all the way to the finished semis. A century of experience in manufactur-ing and processing brass allow us to offer our custom-ers unique assistance in designing their products.

I t may not be the famous Nebra sky disk found in Sachsen-Anhalt, but a round artefact made of brass

has embellished the market square in Mönchenglad-bach-Rheydt , Nordrhein-Westfalen, since 2015. Its surface is a good example of subtle colouration and perfect evenness.

Aside from the best possible surface quality, at MKM we strive for exceptional formation properties, so that individ-ual sheets and plates made of brass can be processed eas-ily. They can be bent, soldered, deep-drawn and machined (to name just a few processes) to suit our customers’ re-quirements.

The production process at MKM is fully integrated. From production to the finished semi, everything happens in-house. That way we keep our material cycle closed and our customers get everything from a single source – and that of course means quick adjustments and quick decisions. Our own alloy foundry guarantees perfect results. We can offer you a broad range of alloys. As well as lead-free brass alloys we stock a number of special brass alloys.

Sheets/individual sheets

MKM supplies cold-rolled individual sheets made from nu-merous brass alloys and manufactured in our own alloy foundry. These are available in standard thicknesses be-tween 3 and 35 mm and a maximum width of 1600 mm. As well as standard dimensions we also offer sheets cut to your own specific dimensions. Plate shears, circular saws and water-cutters enable us to trim everything to size.

Plates

MKM supplies hot-rolled sheets and plates in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 200 mm for a wide range of uses. The di-mensions we are able to offer go well beyond what is com-monly available in the industry. MKM brass plates can be supplied in a range of different strengths and formats; to produce them we rely on a rolling mill which is unique in the copper semi-finished goods industry.

Discs and other components

MKM is expanding its activities in the supply of prelimi-nary and ready-finished components. These parts – discs and polygons cut to customer specifications – can be cut, surface-treated and drilled using a water jet. By procuring processed parts from us, our customers enjoy efficient, tailor -made solutions to their products and save on material costs as well. We can guarantee an internally faultless prod-uct for special needs by means of a separate ultrasonic test.

Art of arithmetic: one of the challenges of making the fountain at Mönchengladbach-Rheydt was maintaining the precision of the circular form. The material used for the structure was a special brass alloy (CuZn39Sn1).

Art of finishing: the fountain at Mönchengladbach-Rheydt was cold-rolled; its pieces were cut into trapezia, quarter discs, half discs and strips using a water jet.

We can deliver one-off products as well as series produc-tion batches. We can also produce in compliance with your technical drawings. We assess feasibility, advise you, and provide you with a quotation for the specifications you have supplied. If required we can produce ready-to-in-stall, highly vertically integrated products. This saves our customers work processes as well as expenses. We only charge for the material that is really used for the job, while the waste goes straight back into our recycling process.

Certificates

Our certifications confirm this. We are DIN ISO 9001 certi-fied. We also have certificates for the various industries in which copper, brass and special alloys are used such as system and apparatus engineering as governed by the EC Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC.

We’re also approved as a manufacturer under AD-2000W6/2 and we have manufacturers’ accreditations from DNV/GL and Bureau Veritas.

We can manufacture any of our products in compliance with the relevant DIN standards, internationally established standards and custom requirements. All of our packaging is appropriate to the products it contains.

WIRE MKM supplies the entire spectrum of wire rod, from thick, medium and fine wire to stranded wire and wire rope. Our fully integrated Contirod® technology allows us to offer copper wire products and alloy wire products (plain and tinned) with a wide range of finishes.

BARSMKM is one of Europe’s leading producers of copper bars and profiles. Our production range en-compasses a wide range of sizes in various grades of copper. We also produce customised profiles based on technical drawings.

SHEETS, PLATES AND DISCSMKM offers sheets, plates and discs in a wide range of dimensions. Our rolling mill is supplied by our own foundries. Our strengths lie in a rich range of more than fift y alloys. We can also produce plates and discs to customer specific drawings on request.
