CLEANING PROGRAMS FOR RECREATIONAL FACILITIESRecreational facilities are vulnerable to skin-to-skin and surface-to-skin transmission of pathogens due to use of shared equipment. For this reason, it is important that gyms and recreational centres develop a comprehensive cleaning program to tackle issues of infection before they become a problem. Here are the steps you must take to develop a comprehensive cleaning program:
1. Identify and list all major areas in the facility. Identify high-risk areas (e.g. bath-rooms/showers) and high-touch areas (e.g. gym equipment), then develop a clean-ing, sanitizing and disinfection program for each area. Areas identified as “high risk” or “high touch” will require targeted sanitizing and disinfection in conjunction with cleaning. Include the extra steps required if there is an outbreak of influenza or other illness. Contact us for videos, charts, and guides on various cleaning methods.
2. Consider using our Indo Pro-Portion EV products. They are ECOLOGO™ certified green cleaners, which are important for environments such as recreational facilities. 3. Use cleaning tools that reduce the amount of cleaning chemicals required, such as microfibre cloths and mops, and use equip-ment that captures dust, dirt and microbes from the air, such as vacuums that use HEPA filtration. Automatic scrubbers, and washroom cleaners also speed up the cleaning process and increase cleanliness.
4. Train your staff on the cleaning program. Ensure they understand the reason why it is so important that a formal cleaning pro-gram be followed. We can help by creating charts and other training tools specifically designed for your cleaning program, and by coming in to your facility to demonstrate procedures and equipment use.
5. Measure your cleaning standards both before and after you implement your program. Contact us for assistance. We can conduct a variety of measures, including ATP testing, to give you a good idea of where your facility stands in terms of cleanliness.
