Safety & First AidAlthough there are no health hazards known in the normal use
and application of plasterboard, please observe the following
precautions:• Avoid creating dust when handling plasterboard or mixing
plasterboard products.
• Reduce sanding by passing a wet sponge over the edges of the fi nished joints after trowelling.
• If dry sanding is necessary and dust is created, provide adequate ventilation, wear eye protection and a disposable respiratory mask conforming to Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1716:1994 Respiratory protective devices Type P1 and P2.
• Keep all construction materials and tools out of reach of children.
• Compound or dust in the eyes - Wash the eyes thoroughly with water.
• Compound or dust on skin - Wash the skin with soap and water.
• Dust inhalation - Move to fresh air area.
• Ingestion of compounds or dust - Drink plenty of water.
• Material Safety Data Sheets are available for all products manufactured by Boral Plasterboard - refer back cover.
EnvironmentIn Australia, Boral Plasterboard has developed an environmental policy targeting the recycling of its plaster products. The company can accept clean plasterboard off-cuts from some building sites to recycle for use in new plaster products. Please contact your local Boral Plasterboard Sales Office for details.

Plasterboard ProductsMachine made under a continuous manufacturing process, plasterboard is composed of a gypsum plaster core
encased in durable, heavy duty face and back linerboard. The face linerboard is wrapped around the long edges of
the board and the ends are guillotine-cut square.
Boral Plasterboard manufactures a range of board types in varying thicknesses and edge profi les to suit fi re,
acoustic, decorative and other building requirements. Each board type is distinguished by colour coded face linerboard.

Under normal range of temperatures and humidity, values are:
Thermal Coeffi cient of Linear Expansion = 16.2x10-6mm/(mmºC)
at temperature range 4 - 38°C.
Hygrometric Coeffi cient of Expansion = 7.2x10-6mm/mm/%R.H.
(5%-90%R.H.).

BaseCote™ 45, 60 & 90A plaster-based jointing compound which is suitable for use with hand trowels and mechanical tools.
Application / UseUsed for bedding and basecoating plasterboard joints, angles and spotting fastener heads.
Packaging 20kg paper bags Working time BaseCote 45 has a working time of approximately 45 minutes. BaseCote 60 has a working time of approximately of 60 minutes. Finishing Compounds
TopCote™ 550A premixed, vinyl based topping compound with a smooth fi nish. Requires 24 hours drying time before sanding.Suitable for use with hand trowels and mechanical tools.

All Purpose Pre-Mix CompoundA premixed, all purpose, vinyl based compound which requires 24 hours drying time before sanding. Suitable for use with hand trowels and mechanical tools.

Stud AdhesivesUsed to fi x plasterboard to timber and metal framing in conjunction with nails or screws. Reduces the quantity
of nails and screws required, consequently lessening fastener head stopping and fi nishing, and minimising the
possibility of nail ‘popping’ caused by frame movement or shrinkage.
Stud Adhesives have good gap fi lling properties to bridge between minor frame irregularities and the
plasterboard sheet.
Boral Plasterboard Stud Adhesives are formulated to comply with Australian Standard AS 2753-1985 Adhesives
- Mastic - For bonding gypsum plaster linings to wood and metal framing members.

Special Plasters
Boral Plasterboard produces specialist plasters for use in varying climatic conditions or for use with special
plasterboard and decorative plaster fi nishes, either hand or machine applied.
Plain Ground Gypsum is also available.
Hard Finish PlasterA setting type compound designed for use with lime to achieve a hard surface on walls and ceilings.
Application / UseUsed as a skim coat plaster to produce a clean, white blemish-free surface with a controlled set.

Casting Plaster A general purpose plaster which when set is of medium hardness. Suitable for carving and turning.
Application / UseUsed in the manufacture of cast, fi bre reinforced plaster sheets, panels, ceiling tiles, decorative cornices and ceiling roses. Used extensively in the arts and craft fi eld and in the production of plastercraft replications.

Industrial Plasters
Special plasters are made for pottery, moulding and plaster craft applications.
Manufactured from Australian mined gypsum, Boral Plasterboard moulding plaster is used for castings, mouldings,
modelling, statues and plastercraft replications and is suitable for industrial, commercial and hobby use.
Pottery Plaster is a fi ne specialist plaster developed and manufactured for use in slip moulds for ceramic pieces,
plaster models and craft replicas.
The strength, hardness and density of plasters is directly related to the quantity of water used. A water/plaster
mixing ratio of 65ml water/100g plaster is given only as an approximate guide.

Pottery PlasterA fi ne specialist plaster of medium strength.
Application / UseUsed in the casting of moulds for ceramic products and for plastercraft replications. Suitable for the manufacture of compression moulds in the slab casting of crockery and tableware.

Control Joint Rondo P35A specially designed PVC rubber fl exible joint which locks onto two galvanised setting beads. A protective fi lament tape is attached to the fl exible joint sections to keep it clean when applying the setting compound, and is removed on completion.
