Welcome
• Kitchen Ventilation– Restaurants, shopping malls, airports, fast food
• Ambient Air– Washroom, hotel rooms, waste storage areas
• Waste Processing and Storage– Waste storage and composting
• Food Transportation and Storage– Soft fruit and vegetables, meat and fish
• Food Manufacturing– Preparation and processing
Applications
• There is an increasing demand by Local Government to reduce odour, grease and smoke emissions associated with the activities of commercial kitchens.
• Emissions control usually arises during the planning phase, or when the local authority has received complaints from the general public.
• Failure to comply with planning conditions can lead to delays in the planning process, or existing businesses could face closure.
Local Government
• Legislative guidelines in the UK: DEFRA 2005 / 2010
• DW/172 Guidelines
•TR/19 - Reduce grease build-up to prevent fire risk
• Odour control for low level discharge
• EHO approval and enforcement
• Penalties for non-compliance including closure
• Duty to Neighbours and to the environment
Guidelines
• From an environmental perspective, offensive odour emissions affect the quality of life of individuals, impacting neighbouring businesses or affect the customer experience.
• Economically, by reducing the amount of grease and smoke which enters the ventilation ductwork, the duct cleaning frequency is reduced, heat recovery is possible and fan maintenance is reduced.
• From a safety perspective, by preventing grease from entering the ductwork there is a reduced fire risk.
Why treat odours?
Our customers
• The proportion of odour, grease and smoke depends on the type of cooking.• Odours are caused by volatile molecules found in the ‘gas phase’• Grease and smoke are tiny particles and so are in the ‘particulate phase’
• It is recommended to install the appropriate abatement equipment to ensure that the extraction air conforms to local Environmental Health standards.

Solutions
• Treat in order of Grease => Smoke => Gaseous odour• Interlock equipment with air flow either through fan control or PDS• Ensure that fan has Pa capacity to handle additional pressure drop• Check linear velocity through main duct run (6-8m/s) to ensure that
there is sufficient dwell time in equipment• Use activated carbon if there is insufficient contact time for ozone (2
seconds), or if extracting at low level
Key design criteria
A modular approach...
• Latest non-thermal plasma and UV-C technology
• Two year limited parts only warranty
• Low capital and running costs
• Simple installation and maintenance
• Compact, lightweight and robust
• Great after sales
INNOVATIVE, CUTTING-EDGE SOLUTIONS FOR GREASE, ODOUR AND SMOKE CONTROL
Product USPs
• Efficiency - up to 95% of grease particles
• Pressure drop – 200Pa
• Linear velocity - 4.2m/s
• Volume flow rate – 0.24 and 0.34m3/s per filter
• Weight – 3kg
• Retrofit using an adaptor plate
• H x D x W mm - 150x475x161 or 150x375x161
• ROI – 12 - 18 months
Coil Filters
• Ozone is injected directly into the canopy or ductwork as close to the source of odour as possible
• A minimum of 2 seconds dwell time is required to allow the ozone to react with odours
• Ozone also reacts with low levels of grease and smoke
• Treats up to 2m3/s air flow
Ozone Injection
• The Plasma Clean Xtract generates ozone, a
well known cleaning agent to combat odour
• Ozone is created from ambient air and injected
into extraction system
• Customers also notice that grease and smoke
is reduced in the air stream and on ductwork
surfaces
• Odour and ozone removed
How it works
Independent testing
The Plasma Clean Xtract has been tested to European Standard
EN13725:2003 by independent odour concentration measurements
ACHIEVED: Up to 90% odour removal

USPs
• Compact and lightweight unit • Low power • Two year parts warranty• Long life UV-C lamps and ballasts • Simple on-site maintenance• Easy retro fit product
• Flagship pub in residential area• Significant odour issues• Environmental Health stipulated odour control measures• EHO Approval obtained for the Plasma Clean Xtract 2100
Case Study – Joshua Bradley
• Low power system – only 160W per unit• Stainless steel and glass construction – fully recyclable • No harmful NOx emissions from production of ozone• Sits outside of the ductwork so adds no back pressure
- Easy retrofit with no significant ductwork modifications- No additional power required to push air through duct- No fan upgrade required
• No noise• Low maintenance• No landfill impact as seen with activated carbon• Cost effective odour control performance• Low carbon footprint
Environmental advantage
• Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) work by
ionizing and trapping grease and smoke
particles onto collector plates.
• They have high particulate removal
efficiency combined with low static pressurePCL 4420
PCL 6630
Electrostatix
• Greatest efficiency with highest volume flow rate capacity - 95% at 4420 and 6630m3/hr
• Two year parts only warranty• Robust power supply for longer life• Spiked ioniser blades - more robust than wire ionisers for longer life• Low pressure drop• Combines with Techniclean UVC for high efficiency grease, smoke
and odour control
USPs
Efficiency
• High energy UV-C lamps are used to break
down odours and traces of grease in the extract
air by the mechanism of photolysis and
ozonolysis – combining high intensity UV-C light
with ozone technology.
UV-C Filtration
• Slim-line and lightweight ducted unit• Low power• Long life UVC lamps and ballasts• High flow capacity• Two year parts warranty• Low pressure drop• Combines with ESP for high efficiency grease, smoke and odour
control ‘ECOLOGY UNIT’• 6 lamp 4420 unit treats 1.1 – 1.4m3/s• 8 lamp 6630 unit treats 1.5 – 2.1m3/s
USPs
Benefits of Techniclean:
• Reduced fire risk due to elimination of grease• Destruction of odours in line with DW/172• Significantly reduces requirement for regular ductwork cleaning• Limited maintenance requirements• Ability of heat recovery due to grease free environment

“The knowledge and expertise
that Plasma Clean brought to
the project proved invaluable.
Since the kitchen has been in
full operation there have been
no problems with grease or
nuisance odour”
Ryan Street, N.G. Bailey
Case Study – Headingly Carnegie
Case Study – Scheff Foods
• Purpose built food manufacturing facility
• Produces high volumes of food containing strong smelling ingredients
• Environmental Health stipulated odour control measures
• UV-C technology used to comply with building and planning regulations
Combining UV-C light with ESPs, helps
keep the downstream extract ductwork
virtually grease free, significantly extending
the period between duct cleaning, reducing
fire risk and keeping heat recovery
surfaces clean. • Completely modular approach
• Slim-line design
• Grease collection at the canopy
• Low pressure drop
• Two year parts warranty
• Low maintenance frequency
