• There are many areas in which plants and animals can live.

• Some of these areas include on plains, plateaus, mountains, wetlands, and water.

• Not all plants and animals can live in every area.

Animals and Plants in the Plains

• Many animals and plants live in the plains regions.

• Plains are regions of relatively flat land.

• They can be near bodies of water or landlocked.

• To see what plants and animals live in the plains, Build a Prairie of your own!

Animals and Plants in the Plateaus

• Plateaus in the United States are found in many areas.

• Famous plateau: the Grand Canyon region.

Animals and Plants in the Mountains

• Many animals and plants that live in mountain regions must adapt to high elevations and varying climates.

• Wetland areas are found near the coasts.
