Procedures describe what needs to be done to complete the experiment, including:

How the independent variable (IV) will be changed (CG & EG)

How the dependent variable (DV) will be measured

How all other variables will be maintained at a constant value (CV)

Plant Experiment Example:

1. Set up three pots, each containing 150 g of Brand X soil.

2. Plant 5 bean seeds in each pot. 3. Water each pot with 100 mL of tap water. 4. Add no fertilizer to Pot #1, add 5 g of Fancy

brand fertilizer to Pot #2 and 10 g of fertilizer to Pot #3.

5. Measure (in cm) the height of each plant once a week for a total of 6 weeks.
