SAPD spokesman eyeing run for Bexar County Sheriff

San Antonio Police Department spokesman Sgt. Javier Salazar may be eyeing a run for Bexar County

Sheriff.Salazar, a longtime member of the San Antonio Police Department, said Thursday that he is looking into

the possibility of run for the position currently held by Susan Pamerleau, but has not made an official

announcement at this point.

However, Javier Salazar’s father, Placido Salazar, filed paperwork as his son’s campaign  treasurer earlier

this month, according to the Bexar County Elections Department.

Placido Salazar initially mentioned his son’s intention to run in an email to supporters on Oct. 11

celebrating the appointment of his other son, Eduardo Salazar, as the Chief of Police of the Ferris Police

Department.

“My wife Maria and I are PROUD to share this information on the success of another of our sons, Eddie

Salazar, in law enforcement,” Placido Salazar said in the email. “Yet another of our sons, the youngest –  

Javier Salazar is running for Bexar County Sheriff. We will forward request for your support in a few

days, hoping that you can help Javier provide CREDIBILITY, PRESTIGE, SERVICE WITH JUSTICE

and all that is expected of that position of trust.” 

Javier Salazar is the fourth person, including Pamerleau, to file preliminary paperwork for the coming

2016 election. Individuals can officially file their candidacy on Nov. 14, with primaries being held March1.

Andy Lopez and Mathews Ninan have also registered campaign treasurers.
