Digipak – Supermarkets, Entertainment Stores & Record Shops

• If I was to actually sell the digipak I am creating, I would have it on shelves in supermarkets (e.g. Tesco, Asda), entertainment stores (e.g. HMV), and record shops (e.g. Rough Trade) across the country

• These are all the usual places you can buy digipaks and see the physical product right there in front of you before your purchase

• Although the majority of record sales have become digital and online (due to digitalisation and the rise of web 2.0, etc.) I think it is important to help maintain the sale of hard copies of records & albums

• It also provides more than one platform for audiences to purchase the product, allowing more people access to my product, which means it can reach wider audiences

• The reason I have included the idea of featuring my product in record stores, e.g. Rough Trade, is because my artist is of the indie genre so will be signed to an independent label (Rough Trade). Independent labels often support record shops as they share the same kind of ethos (making music for the love of music rather than for the money)

Digipak – Online Stores

• As I briefly mentioned on the previous slide, the majority of music sales are online now

• However, rather than just selling the album in a digital format, I want audiences to be able to purchase a hard copy of my digipak via the internet, as this is seen as an easier and more affordable option due to you not even having to leave the house to buy the product, you can get it with the click of a finger

• Examples of possible online stores it could be purchased on are Amazon and the artist’s website (once again using web 2.0 to my own benefit as this will also help to promote the artist and her other products, etc.)

Magazine Ad – Music Magazines

• As I am creating a magazine advert to promote the release of the video and digipak, I would obviously want the product to be published in a magazine, but more specifically a music magazine

• I would want it to be published in music magazines that are based around the indie genre and will appeal to my target audience, e.g. NME, The Wire, or any small-scale local publications (as this gives it a more alternative and personal feel)

Magazine Ad – Posters, Billboards, etc.

• My product may also be published as a poster which could be stuck up in shops (more likely to be local businesses, bars/pubs or charity & vintage shops) or sold as merchandise for audiences to buy

• This would mean the artist would gain even more coverage/promotion so a wider range of audiences would find out about her, listen to her music and hopefully buy the music

• To reinforce this even further, the ad could even be published on billboard style panels around cities or pinned up at bus stops so it is visible in audiences’ every day lives
