Jaipurias in Indian Industry: The house of Jaipurias is a well known name in the Indian industry for over a century now. It was founded by Seth Anandram Jaipuria much before Indian independence. Padma Bhushan Seth Mungtu Ram Jaipuria, son of the founder of the illustrious house of Jaipurias, was nominated to the board of the then Imperial Bank (now State Bank of India) of India way back in 1933. Though primarily the Jaipurias concentrated on the textile business and were the proud owners of the Swadeshi Cotton Mills which they took over from a European in April 1946, between 1942 and 1946, the Jaipurias had also built two airports for the government and promoted the Hindustan Mercantile Bank. Currently the flagship brand of the house of Jaipurias is Ginni Filaments of which Shri Shishir Jaipuria is the Chairman and Managing Director.

Jaipurias in Education: The house of Jaipurias had also forayed into education prior to independence. The Seth Anandram Jaipuria Education Society runs various reputed schools and colleges in the country. These include Seth Anandram Jaipuria college Kolkata (1945), Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur (1974), Jaipuria Institute of Management, Vasundhara (2001), Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara (2004), Jaipuria School of Business, Indirapuram (2008). It also promoted Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow (1992).

Jaipurias in Social Service: The Jaipuria group is fully conscious of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The philanthropic spirit of late Dr Rajaram Jaipuria, a worthy son of Padma Bhushan Seth Mungtu Ram Jaipuria, has been carried forward by his son Shri Shishir Jaipuria as head of the trust and a chain of public guest houses, temples, charitable hospitals and educational institutions bear ample testimony of that spirit of serving the poor and the needy.

Jaipuria School of Business is ahead of time. We are evolving fast as a future academy. I take immense pleasure to present the Batch of 2015-17 for final placement and the Batch of 2016-18 for summer internship placement, to the Corporate Recruiters for considering Jaipuria School of Business as a preferred Business School campus to look out for tomorrow’s leaders today.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management is an intense 2year full-time programme tailored in such a way that the students are imparted functional and behavioural competence with the skill-set that is relevant today and that would be required tomorrow in the corporate sector. JSB’s post graduate program empowers the students with the right blend of modern management concepts, competencies, techniques, practices and skills to meet the ever changing challenges of modern business. The curriculum followed at JSB has been dynamically aligned and continuously updated to incorporate the requirements of the Industry to ensure that the students not only imbibe the academic concepts but also develop the analytical and decision making skills to be the change leaders in the volatile and unpredictable world of business tomorrow.

Our students get significant exposure to the corporate think tank and almost on a weekly basis get the opportunity to listen and interact with CEOs and CXOs in our Campus. The Industry visits and the summer internships are done differently at JSB, with Faculty acting as mentor alongside a mentor from the Industry concerned. Our area academic advisory boards keep our curriculum and pedagogy most contemporary. The constant endeavour that we put in to incorporate the best global academic practices and corporate expectations have led Jaipuria School of Business to be considered as one of the best B-Schools in the NCR. The long standing legacy of Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, along with the academic rigour and discipline imbibe in our students rich cultural values besides the qualities of leadership and makes them good and sensitive citizens in future. The current batches on the campus exhibit a rich diversity of background that is varied in terms of ethnicity, culture, education, creativity and dynamism. This diversity inculcates in our students cross-cultural sensitivity, a strong asset for the global business environment.

I feel privileged to invite you to participate in the placement process at our campus this year. I am confident that your organisation will benefit immensely from your choice of graduates from our Institute.

About the PGDM Program

| 08 | PGDM PLACEMENT BROCHURE 2015-17

I am delighted to introduce the process of our designing the PGDM curriculum to ensure the practical relevance in the contemporary globally competitive business environment.

Each year, before the commencement of the new academic session, our faculty meet at a “visioning and benchmarking” workshop to track and adapt the new knowledge and new practices, while designing our curriculum. We used to have a formal meeting once a year with Industry captains and Academic stalwarts to present our curriculum draft and integrate their inputs. We have innovated and improvised the process further to make it more dynamic as the shelf life of new knowledge is getting shorter by the day. The curriculum of PGDM is designed as per the latest requirement of industry and business through elaborate interactions and regular contact with renowned professionals. Each area has a separate domain advisory group consisting of eminent professionals of the respective domain from industry and academia. All courses are benchmarked against the Top B-schools in India and the world.

Our teaching methodology aims to equip students with competencies for the VUCA future.

• Timely Assessment provides educators with a better understanding of what students are learning and engages students more deeply in the process of learning content.

• Campus-Based Learning uses the campus environment itself as a teaching tool.

• Coached Problem Solving is a class format in which professors provide a structured, guided context for students to work collaboratively and solve problems.

• Concept Tests represent a rapid method of formative assessment of student understanding.

• Interactive Lectures engage students in activities that help them to understand core concepts with considerable clarity. The activity can be a classroom experiment, a survey, a simulation or an analysis of secondary data.

• Interdisciplinary Approaches entails the use analytical frameworks from more than one academic discipline to examine a theme, issue, question or topic, in an integrated manner.

• Investigative Case-Based Learning involves students in addressing real world problems.

• Quantitative Writing engages students with numbers by asking them to analyze and use quantitative data in written reports and arguments.

• Role Playing helps students appreciate and empathise people facing real life challenges.

• Teaching with Data Simulation allows students to visualise probability distributions, which in turn make the processes associated with probability more concrete.

• Teaching with Spreadsheets allows students to work with real-world data, for complex ‘what if’ analyses.

• Teaching with the Case Method is modeled after the pioneering Harvard technique of case based learning.

Centers of ExcellenceA unique feature of Jaipuria School of Business is' its five Centres of Excellence (CoEs). These are laboratories of practice to bridge the gap between theory and execution. A CoE is a shared facility that provides leadership, best practices, research, support and training for a focused area.

Leadership matters, it has always mattered in history. There is no agreement among intellectuals on the process of developing leaders but there is complete unanimity over the qualities the most successful leaders exhibit. Theories of leadership provide deep insight into how successful leaders work but most learning happens when one seats on the hot chair. The Center for Leadership Excellence has the vision and mandate of a laboratory of practice. The Centre is fostering an environment where emerging models of leadership can be explored and the theoretical and practical value of these models can be disseminated to the students through innovative modes of experiential learning.

Human ingenuity has no limits. All resources are limited except the capacity of human mind to create and innovate continuously adding more and more value. Creativity at its peak can develop something out of nothing and many organizations have experienced huge success by harnessing employees' creative potential in the right way for the benefit of the Organization. Global business thrives on creativity. Disruptive growth strategies are founded upon the employees' creativity and fueled by technological advances and process innovation. The Centre for Creativity and Innovation organizes various activities that aim at bringing forth the creativity of the students and encourage them to think in an innovative way to resolve complex issues.

Business Sustainability thrives on leveraging Diversity in the human race and building cultures of excellence around inclusiveness of all the human resources available to the Organization. It is said that those who erect walls around them get buried under that wall. Many empires, dynasties and business organizations have fallen and perished due to their inability to recognize the creative as well as destructive potential of human diversity. For long business managers assumed that diversity and inclusiveness were issues for the society and governments to tackle and the realization of the cardinal sin occurred only after the global economic meltdown that happened shaking the whole world with the collapse of the Lehman Brothers.

The Centre organizes campus visits and talks by CEOs and CXOs who are established leaders of practice and creates opportunities for students to directly interact with the Leaders from different industries and corporates. The Center activities are led by students and through organizing different events, indoor and outdoor, the students get opportunity to hone their leadership skills. Regular debates and seminars on emerging issues help the students assimilate the core leadership values of synthesizing and accommodating differences in perspectives and opinions. The students discuss great leaders and masters of the leadership craft starting from Socrates and Alexander to Mother Theresa, from Asoka the Great to Swami Vivekananda, from Andrew Carnegie to Indira Nooyi. The role models inspire the students to follow their foot steps and also stamp their new footprints.

Centre for Leadership Excellence:

Centre for Creativity and Innovation:

Through various activities that take place under this centre include Ad-Mad Competitions, Student Seminars, Student Talk Shows, The Most Innovative Inventions, Brand Creation, etc., the students of Jaipuria School of Business hone their creative potential and keep their creative passion alive and ready for facing the real life world of business.

Centre for Diversity and Inclusiveness:

The way we live has changed in so many ways. What is more important is that while these changes have been happening at the micro level, these are but consequences of a macro-level change – a change that has taken place due to the advances in science, technology, geo-political equations, trade cycles and economic upheavals. The change will continue and when we will look back twenty years from now, we may be awestruck. Life in 2040 might bear no resemblance to life in 2016. Therefore its very crucial for survival of business to connect the dots between the present and the future.

In 21st century, enormous amount of data is getting accumulated through the internet application environment. Companies are being valued on the basis of their efficacy in customer-centric data analytical prowess. Data analysis has become predictor of business fortune. Today, the field of data analytics is growing rapidly and “Big Data” has become a buzz word in Business.

Each of the five CoEs are laboratories of experimental and experiential learning. Each Centre is mandated to organise thematic conferences, student seminars and outdoor practice activities led by the students themselves under the watchful guidance of the Faculty Chair of the Centre.

Centre for Change and Development:

It brings to the fore the need to be agile and proactive to adapt, be flexible, to respond, and mutate to changes in surroundings – the very basic principle of evolution. The Centre for Change and Development presents an avenue for keeping the students up to date and up to the speed of change in the environment. The Centre creates opportunities for students to “adopt, adapt and adept” change by practicing change in simulated laboratory conditions. The activities undertaken under the Centre include formal and informal interaction and engagement with society and environment.

Centre for Advanced Data Analytics:

PGDM PLACEMENT BROCHURE 2015-17 | 13 |

Banking institutions have woken up and regulators of the market economy have come down heavy upon business, that did not implore the sustainability issues and that failed to act proactively. The research into accidental sustainability led to the discovery of the strong linkage between respect for diversity and business sustainability in a world fractured by ideologues of intolerance. The growth of capitalism has been capped by intolerance and hatred that is spreading in the larger society making business difficult to thrive. Hence it is necessary to educate and inculcate the value of diversity and inclusiveness among young minds through various events and activities of practice.

The whole science of Data Analytics is going through a major transformation right now. This importance is driven by intense market demand and corporate are looking for people who have the skills for manipulating data and translating it into results. At JSB’s Centre for Advanced Data Analytics students get the chance to upgrade their analytical skills and develop capabilities to exploit data analytics for solving problems and identifying opportunities so that they can make better business decisions. They learn how to examine large data sets to uncover hidden pattern, unknown relationships, market trends, customer preferences, optimisations of services and other useful business information through live data of an industry.

In order to provide a practical exposure and create opportunity for PGDM students to work in the Industry on real time Internship, the concept of SIP is designed. A live issue is discussed with the concerned Industry representative and a Project theme gets formulated and assigned to the student. A faculty –mentor from JSB takes personal responsibility to guide the student along with a trainer from the concerned industry.

The students are trained in “Business Research Methodology” in their third term as part of the curriculum where they learn about Data Analysis and Hypothesis Testing. The SIP continues for eight weeks usually from May to June soon after their third term examinations. The faculty guide keeps a constant touch with the assigned mentee and his/her Industry trainer besides paying a visit to their establishment premises at least twice to personally see their progress.

While on internship, students have to capture large amount of data on various aspects of business and management functions in a scientific manner and they must apply the concepts of Hypothesis testing in their Project. Summer internship provides students with an exposure to the real world of business and networking opportunities.

The students, on completion of their summer internship submit a Project Report to the Institute for evaluation by a committee appointed by Director. The SIP not only gives enormous benefits in the recruitment process of our students but also result in getting pre-placement offers

PGDM PLACEMENT BROCHURE 2015-17 | 35 |

The Placement Process at JSB aims to match the requirements of the Corporate World with the aspirations of the students thereby facilitating the achievement of synergy between the two. The various Placements Activities undertaken at JSB are described below.

Summer Internship ProgrammesAs a compulsory part of curriculum, PGDM students are required to undergo Summer Internship with an organisation for a period of 8 weeks. The selection process for Summer Placements starts after the first term for the first year students. The period of Summer Internship is normally from May to June.

Final PlacementsThis process usually starts in the month of November, although recruitment through Pre-Placements Offers (PPO) and lateral process for students with prior work experience can happen till at least a fortnight before the Final Placements.

Placement Procedure

For each of these processes, the following procedure is adopted:

Stage 1: Members from companies interact with students on campus through Business Thought Leadership Sessions, Guest Lectures, Live Projects, and other Corporate Forums

Stage 2: Student profiles and other relevant details are shared with companies

Stage 3: The companies conduct Pre-PlacementsTalks to give in-depth information about them including the roles and profiles being offered

Stage 4: Applications are invited and CVs of interested applicants are shared with the companies

Stage 5: Based on factors such as profiles and locations offered, and student’s perceptions and areas of interest, companies are ranked and called on campus

Stage 6: Companies conduct their selection process which typically comprises CV based short listing, group discussions, and interviews

Stage 7: Final results are announced by the companies
