• The decimal point is ALWAYS read “and”

• The value of numbers to the right of the decimal point is less than one

Understanding Decimal Placement

• Say I have the decimal 0.318– The 0 is in the ones place– The 3 is in the tenths place– The 1 is in the hundredths place– The 8 is in the thousandths places

• Notice that the place values after the decimal end in “TH”
